Future Man Spoiler Free Review

The elevated yet crude humour mostly comes from Tiger and Wolf (Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson), travellers from an apocalyptic future who seek out their so-called Savior by sending a supposedly unwinnable video game back in time to find the one warrior who can beat it. That victor turns out to be Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson), a janitor whose video game skills don’t translate into real life the way the future soldiers had hoped....

Future Shock The Story Of 2000Ad Review

Future Shock! is the work of Paul Goodwin, whose main task appears to have been assembling a wealth of talent to interview. With the exception of Alan Moore, Mark Millar and Garth Ennis, the big names are all present, which means you get to see Neil Gaiman sitting in front of an apparently colour coded bookcase, Bryan Talbot enthusiastically miming someone being impaled on a sword, John Wagner being quietly laconic and Pat Mills still raging entertainingly with constantly refuelled ire....

You did not disappoint. Here are 19 random, small, wonderful little things that have happened in the last week or two. Geeks Vs Loneliness Be Excellent To Each Other

The last four weeks, whichever side of the assorted big and small arguments that have been going on, have not really shown the world in a great light, I don’t think. Be it politics, blockbuster movies, cultural divisions or social media, it’s as if a big magnifying glass has been held up to human beings, and there’s been some realisation that we might all be different. As if that’s a threat or a problem....

Geeks Vs Loneliness Defending Your Superpower

This week, we’re handing over to the awesome Charlotte Harrison. And she wants to talk about superpowers… I wasn’t exactly made to blend in. Let me paint a mental image for you of my appearance. The first thing you may clock is the red hair. I share my hair colour with 2% of the world. It acts like the beacon of a lighthouse – a bonus when trying to find me in a crowd, not so much between the ages of 11-16 attending a British comprehensive....

Geeks Vs Loneliness Doctor Who Autism And Finding Home

Let us stop for some hugs. As Anne told us, “one of the main things that helped her to find the courage to tackle the outside world again was her love of Doctor Who, and that led to a chance meeting with other geeks her own age who admired her artwork and showed her that she would have been welcomed and accepted”. What’s more, Alix has now written us an article....

Grimm Season 4 Episode 16 Review Heartbreaker

4.16 Heartbreaker A beautiful girl struggles with loneliness due to the fact that any man who finds her attractive will suffer a painful death through heart failure. This is caused by a poison emitted through the skin of the girl, who is a frog-like Wesen called a Folterseele. As Monroe succinctly puts it: “If you kiss this frog, your face blows up and you die.” Meanwhile, Nick valiantly continues to implore Juliette to come back home and work out their problems, even though the sight of her physically repels him....

Grimm Season 6 Episode 5 Review The Seven Year Itch

Grimm Season 6 Episode 5 Over the course of six seasons, the cast of Grimm has had its share of itches that needed to be scratched. The majority of the action has taken place in tony Portland, with temporary European jaunts to hunt for treasures and rescue a hexenbiest from a foreboding castle. Who and what has been buried demands to be unearthed and reborn in the secular and magical worlds on the show....

Gunpowder Episode 2 Review

This Gunpowder review contains spoilers. The second episode of Gunpowder asks this question in a number of ways, and does a great job of building suspense for the finale next week. And it’s not only the plotters who must decide whether they can stay the course At first, we followed Robert Catesby (played by Kit Harington) on his journey around Spain and France, looking for allies and finding more bloodshed in the form of the Catholic church happily having those who practise a different faith burned at the stake....

Helix Premiere Pilot And Vector Review

Helix‘s arctic setting is front and center from the opening moments of the pilot, showcasing the vast, white expanse broken up only by the high-tech biological research facility. Ominous is the order of the day, as the first people we see are in sealed and immaculately white biohazard suits, tracking down a potential “contamination.” The opening moments of the Helix pilot are wordless, with some intentionally disjointed musical cues offsetting the mood....

Hell On Wheels Under Color Of Law Review

In this follow up episode to one of the best, “Bear Man,” as well as last week’s uncomfortable “Elam Ferguson,” we find ourselves dealing with everything and everyone else besides what ought to garner screen time – the death of Elam Ferguson. Or I could be examining this episode too closely. I’ll pull the camera back to a wider view, reboot, and see what unfolds. I liked Naomi’s physicality at the river’s edge in washing Elam’s blood from Cullen’s clothing while replaying the previous mercy killing in her mind’s eye....

Hellboy Ii Review

The age-old truce between the supernatural world and the world of men came about due to King Balor’s use of the unstoppable and indestructible Golden Army, a mass of dangerous clockwork machines that don’t know thirst, never tire, and cannot be destroyed. These constructs were so fierce and dangerous that after their first use, Balor (Roy Dotrice) swears to never use them again and splits the crown that controls them asunder....

Heroes Season 3 Episode 21 Review

It’s not a plot that I want to recant in its entirety because, except for one plotline, not much actually happens. From a positive perspective, its seems to be about trying to emotionally ground characters that have been broken by previous episodes, giving these lost children a purpose again. Angela and Peter take refuge from the rain in a church, and look for absolution and guidance, retrospectively. Angela’s power is to dream the future, but she’s also an insomniac, which isn’t a helpful combination....

Humor Me Review

Even if you’ve never heard about Noah Baumbach’s adjacent (and superior) film, Humor Me still suffers from being overly familiar and tidy. Hoffman has some experience shooting CBS’ Madame Secretary and his film appears to carry that network’s house style. The film barely registers at meaningfully exploring its father (Elliot Guild as Bob) and son (Jemaine Clement as Nate) dynamic and saves all of the messy details that could have made this story interesting for its final 20 minutes....

Idris Elba On The Reality Behind His Molly S Game Character

Chastain and Elba have a fantastic natural chemistry together as two complete strangers who gradually develop a mutual respect and understanding for the other in writer and first-time director Aaron Sorkin’s legal drama, which is based on Bloom’s real-life story as a woman who refused to be shut down by anyone — whether it be the FBI or the Russian mob. But chemistry and a powerful presence come easily for the British actor, who regularly lands near or at the top of lists of prospective James Bond candidates and who is demand almost constantly (and works nearly as much)....

Inside No 9 Series 3 Episode 2 Review The Bill

This review contains spoilers. “People arguing over a bill – how the hell are you going to keep that going for half an hour without becoming boring?” asked Inside No. 9’s Steve Pemberton here. Intruders And Here You Must Listen Review

Does that make the perpetrators some kind of psychic parasites? Is the host soul killed or forced into submission? Can you be put into the body of an animal? That would suck. Maddie has a vague recollection of what went down the night before. Marcus took them to Chinatown, they got a “9” book from some lady, an envelope of cash, and a set of keys. The book is a sort of instruction manual, reassuring the reader that reincarnation is no big whoop and that death is the lie religion has been telling people for millennia....

Is Apple Entering The Videogame Market

The Pippin wasn’t solely a games console, but it was meant to be an inexpensive computer of sorts that would plug into your TV. The only problem was of course that it was shit. The Playstation was already out and Nintendo dropped the N64 soon after and that was that. It bombed, and it’s since gone down as one of the worst gadgets of all time. Which leads us onto possibility number two: Apple is planning to use Apple TV for games somehow....
