This The Simpsons review contains spoilers. Poor Millhouse’s dad. He’s a loser. A soul-sucking fruit munch personality void from a long line of lesser men. He put out an album once, which would have been cool if it didn’t ask listeners to lend him a feeling. His son, Millhouse, is also a loser who looks just like the Dud in the Mystery Date game. Homer even scolded him to stick up for himself, as a loser....
These intimate tales allowed viewers to see just how catastrophic the events of the show are by showing how they affected individuals on the most personal of levels. Take Vasiliy Fet, exterminator extraordinaire, for example. This week, we got to witness the human side of Fet. We learned that he is a genius level intellect whose father believes he is wasting his talents by being a “rat catcher.” We learned that there is a great deal of pain in Fet’s life, a great deal of regret and familial drama....
2.22 As I Lay Dying The quiet and detached series finale has worked well for shows in the past, as the action is tied up in the penultimate instalment, leaving the final hour to intimate character moments and relationships. It works well again here, but the episode definitely isn’t devoid of excitement. We begin with a visit from Damon to a very sombre Gilbert house, as Elena and Jeremy cope with life without Jenna....
This review contains spoilers if you haven’t yet seen the episode. Stefan, then, tricks Katherine into thinking that he still has feelings for her, and stabs her in the back. He doesn’t kill her, but captures her so he can find out why she is back in town. She continues to say she is back for him. She also informs him that she conspired with the Lockwoods to burn the vampires in the church in order to fake her own death....
This episode starts with Merle and three other guys out in the woods looking for Michonne. They find a grouping of zombie parts on the ground that spell out “Go back;” clearly created by Michonne. Merle calls out to her, as he hears her rustling in the bushes nearby. She jumps out, decapitates one of the men and slices up another one. Michonne finds Merle and Neil a little later and attacks them....
Those two flicks, by the way, were The Truman Show and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, a pair that displayed the man’s diverse talents, and his wide appeal, not to mention his knack of drawing superb performances out of his leading men. As a follow-up, The Way Back has a lot to prove, and despite ticking many stylistic boxes – being a period-set exploration of the human condition on an epic scale – it isn’t quite the masterpiece you’d hope for from a seasoned cinematic veteran....

On the receiving end of his mercy this week were Anne Neville, the daughter of the man who turned coat more often than a Savile Row tailor, and Lady Margaret Beaufort, a Lancastrian in York’s clothing. It was two weddings and three funerals on The White Queen this week, which was looking handsomer than ever....
The X-Files Season 11 Episode 6 “Have you ever wondered why, after thirty-five years in the Bureau, Walter Skinner isn’t sitting on this side of the desk?” Over the course of The X-Files’ eleven seasons and upwards of two hundred episodes, there has somehow only been one installment that’s focused on Skinner. That’s insanity. Season three’s “Avatar” shines a light on Skinner’s romantic life and tells a story about his failing marriage and his horrible attempt at a one-night stand, but it’s a fairly forgettable episode....
Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller) is an action star leaning on an ever-increasing number of sequels to keep himself in the limelight. Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) is a method actor with five Oscars to his name, known for throwing himself wholeheartedly into any role. Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black) is a big-name comedy actor famous for fat suits and fart jokes. Alpa Chino (Brandon Jackson) is a rapper and entrepreneur trying to make the move into acting to expand his revenue stream....
Gen. Benedict Arnold (Owain Yeoman) has gone back into battle, this time for the Crown. As really happened in January 1781 (though it seems to be happening later in the year in the Turn universe), Arnold leads an attack on the new state capital, Richmond. His forces quickly sack the city, sending Gov. Thomas Jefferson fleeing. And then there’s Pvt. Abraham Woodhull (Jamie Bell), torn between his mission as a Continental agent to capture Arnold and his personal crusade to kill Simcoe, his earnest desire not to shoot any Americans and his remaining instinct for self-preservation....
Matthew Butler Hart, the film’s director and co-writer, says they wanted to do something which involved three people together in a room, with both light and dark elements. Out of that grew this understated thriller, combining the influence of 1970s spy movies with a dry sense of humour. You can’t help but be instantly captivated by John. Alex Hassel’s performance is partway between a Bond villain’s private assassin and the suave impertinence of a Jude Law romantic hero....
Even at its most content-heavy, the show knows it can afford to bombard us with information and story developments because they never stray far from the heart of what makes the entire show work: Elena, Damon, Stefan, and Caroline. In recent weeks, the show has been tricky to watch. Damon was trapped in 90s hell, and Stefan and Caroline seemed doomed to the fate of the insane: Repeating a behavior over and over again all the while expecting an entirely different outcome each time....
Third Window, who have garnered a reputation for releasing esoteric, quirky, or just flat-out brilliant East Asian films, is one of the many businesses that now find themselves in an unfortunate spot. In their particular case, almost 20,000 DVD discs have been written off, and to replenish the whole catalogue would be a great investment. This brings us to Villain. While it may not be the strongest, or most audacious entry in the Third Window catalogue, it is nonetheless another fine, if flawed addition....
If you were young in the early 80s, chances are you spent a good few hours pounding buttons on a Dig Dug arcade cabinet or stuffing Pac-Man cartridges into your Atari 2600. Either that or you’d hop on your Rodney Mullen skateboard and skoot down to the local comics store to pick up the latest issue of The Amazing Spiderman. Looking around the shop, you might have spotted a few older customers....
The first two season of Voltron had thirteen episodes each, so why the change? “We’re a little removed from that strategy,” says Dos Santos. “We had some input once they came out with some variables but I think it’s a work in progress.” The decision was made after they made the season but Dos Santos stresses, “We kind of see the point. We get it.” So with Voltron season three dropping in August and season four dropping in October, does that mean we could start seeing Voltron multiple times a year?...
Last season, Workaholics had a twenty-episode order, and though the series lagged at times, overall the season showed the guys taking on more ambitious and creative ideas, both with their storyline and the overall production of the show. This season, Comedy Central has dialed it back to just thirteen episodes, but the network has already committed to at least one more season. Blake, Adam, and Ders aren’t going anywhere, so can they keep their ambitious streak up and prove those who doubt the longevity of a stoner comedy wrong?...
One of the best (in terms of humor) elements of the show is their ability to present new and weird-as-balls takes on zombies. This week we got golf zombies, meth zombies, and zombies with boners. It was a veritable glut of humor, and frankly, felt a little extreme. I get that they were going into a pharmaceutical warehouse, but just one new type of zombie would have been enough to sustain the viewers’ interest, especially since the story of Murphy exercising his mesmeric powers over his captors was totally compelling....
Here’s my criticism: We would have been saddened by Garnett’s death even if he and Roberta hadn’t admitted to caring for each other and then doing the nasty. I understand that in a world rife with zombies there isn’t always time for impassioned heart to hearts, but the super-rushed “let’s have sex, and also, I love you” storyline between the two leaders of the group struggling to bring Murphy to California before he croaks or turns felt super-strange, especially when viewed in the light of last week’s very careful beginning explorations of a possible romantic connection between the two....
Joyland is a horror story, a story of a girl who was violently murdered on a haunted house ride, and whose restless spirit is still within that ride. The novel is filled with the eerie imagery of the carnival, of the shady carnies, and restless nature that accompanies any carnival. When King brings the chills, the novel goes for the jugular. Whenever any of the characters get within sight of the haunted house ride, the novel walks that razor’s edge of creepiness that will make readers flick on an extra light or lock a few doors....
Allen started his career with none other than Marvin Hamlisch, who would go on to score The Spy Who Loved Me. Working on Bananas after Take The Money And Run, Hamlisch’s hyperactive music was the perfect match for Allen’s haphazard comedy. Since then, Woody has toyed with both scores and jukebox soundtracks, often using music from a specific country to set the tone in his travelogue years: pre-existing Spanish music accompanied Vicky Cristina Barcelona; Italian classics from Volare to Nessun dorma serenaded To Rome With Love; while Midnight In Paris had a charming French feel captured by Bistra Fada, an original piece from France-born Brooklynite guitarist Stephane Wrembel, whose fingers meander up and down the frets like Owen Wilson wandering the Seine....
