In Silicon Valley’s third episode “Articles of Incorporation” the gang wrestles with renaming Pied Piper. Richard is convinced it’s the next big brand. Gilfoyle and Dinesh aren’t as keen on naming the company after a fairy tale and Jared even looked the story up. It’s about a predator that “murders children in a cave.” As a Silicon Valley veteran, Erlich knows the only way to come up with the next innovative name is to eat a bunch of shrooms and wander around a desert....

Nowadays, JJ is a kid in a sweetshop. Working in a giant confectionary warehouse that looks like Wonka’s factory redesigned by an accountant. Happily flirting with old ladies at the tills, he has his own piece of eye candy in the form of Lara Lloyd. But owing to his not inconsiderable social disability, he just can’t bring himself to ask her out. But no actual progress occurs until Thomas (who seems to have suddenly lost his accent) steps in and JJ is forced to finally ask her out over the tannoy, which is surely forbidden in the company handbook....

The set-up is this: Jamie Foxx plays a Las Vegas cop, Vincent Downs, who’s robbed a huge stash of cocaine as part of an undercover investigation into his own precinct. Determined to get their drugs back, some ruthless gangsters stab Vincent in the gut and kidnap his son as leverage. Meanwhile, Internal Affairs officer Jennifer Bryant (Michelle Monaghan) starts following Vincent around – understandably, she’s taken Vincent’s drug-pilfering antics at face value, and concludes that he’s a corrupt cop....

Son of Zorn: Season 1, Episode 3 “Nobody wanted this war, but war it must be….” I wasn’t sure how quickly Son of Zorn would be returning to the glorious sight gag that ends its pilot episode. I also thought it could entirely be possible that Alan having cartoon legs might be something funny that’s never really touched on again and is just a secret that we’re left to share with him....

After a very long wait, the boys from Charming have finally landed in Belfast. I’m sure I speak for most of us when I shout from the rooftops, finally! I know I’ve said it a few times in the past, but with this episode we are getting back to the Sons Of Anarchy that we know and love. One of the few things that really irritated me in this episode was that the opening dialogue suddenly had Chibs speaking in an Irish accent....

The arrival of a new kid at school who wears all black and sets things on fire can mean only one thing: the son of the Devil has arrived in South Park! With the ultimate fight taking the form of a boxing match, the locals hot tail it to the bookies to place their bets on Jesus – that is, until the weigh-in takes place and it’s revealed the Devil weighs almost three times as much as the lord and saviour....

There’s always been something off about Star Trek: Discovery‘s Captain Lorca (played deliciously by Jason Isaacs). From Admiral Cornwell’s comment that he’s not the man she knew to his subtle manipulations of the crew, Lorca has seemingly been up to something since we first met him. Now, with “Vaulting Ambition,” we know the truth. Lorca is indeed from the Mirror Universe, as many have suspected. Let’s take a look back at the clues Discovery dropped along the way… Now that Lorca is in the Mirror Universe, he is subtly pulling the strings to keep them there....

The strongest influences on the original series were both the relatively recent experiences of the Second World War, and the subsequent cold war standoff with the USSR. The Balance Of Terror explores the military role of the Enterprise as it reacts to the raiding of a Romulan bird of prey. In my own mind I’d always thought that Kirk had encountered the Klingons first, and then the Romulans later. But this episode contradicts my recollection, and is reminiscent of those classic submarine dramas popular in the fifties such as The Enemy Below (1957)....

Episode 13 of “The Lost Missions” is entitled “Sacrifice.” It’s directed by Steward Lee, written by Christian Taylor, and shows Yoda continuing his quest to the Sith homeworld. After who Mark Hamill is playing, the other elephant in the room is “Moriband,” the supposed Sith homeworld which looks exactly like the EU version, Korriban. The geometrically shaped pillars are the same, the dusty valleys are the same, the graves and their inhabitants are the same – perhaps it is even an older name for the same place, preserved by the Sages....

Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Episode 3 Last week, I said that the Sabine-centric episode of Star Wars Rebels didn’t do enough with the young Mandalorian’s background. This week’s “Hera’s Heroes” shows exactly what last week’s episode could have done, tying a suspenseful story inextricably to Hera’s family history. It did so in a lot of ways, most spoken out loud by the end of the episode, but some left to the audience to consider....

Star Wars Rebels Season 3 Episode 9 Remember Hondo? He’s back in “The Wynkahthu Job,” and his banter with Ezra makes for an episode that feels a bit more essential than the last few have been, even if it doesn’t actually move the plot forward much. It seems to me like the Rebellion might want those too. Regardless, it comes down to Hera to make the deal. She puts Zeb in charge of the away team and agrees to Hondo’s demands....

And he’s been telling us how he got on… Just reading some of the background material on the Millennium Trilogy, we’re told that 65 million copies of the books have been sold to date. And so, when you come to adapt something like this, you’re presumably instantly up against millions of people who think you’re wrong. You shut that out, presumably? How did you write it? I do shut it out....

The movie market is crowded with superb animation studios like Disney, Pixar, Laika, Aardman and (on their good days) DreamWorks, but Warner/WAG is carving out a comfy little niche for themselves with these first two films. Most of their slate looks to be be made up of LEGO movies, including next year’s Batman and Ninjago spin-offs, but Storks lives up to 2014’s The LEGO Movie as a fast, funny and hyperactive comedy....

Supergirl Season 1 Episode 16 Sometimes, in the course of a long season, I can get a little cynical. I figured I was going to hate “Falling.” How could this possibly live up to “Solitude” which I firmly maintain is the best the series has been, and is one of the best hours of live action Superman-related TV in history, right? Holy moley. What a jerk I am. “Falling” is tremendous superhero TV, the third great episode in a row (a first for this series!...

Supergirl Season 1, Episode 14 On it’s face, “Truth, Justice and the American Way” was very much a transitionary episode. It dealt with the fallout from some major recent happenings — mainly, the death of Astra and the D.E.O.’s imprionment of Maxwell Lord — while also giving us a Fort Rozz-prisoner-of-the-week storyline. But, by subverting that prisoner-of-the-week format so that Kara works to save a man her mother sentenced to prison, Supergirlembarked on an exploration of morality within the superhero genre that was therapeutic for anyone who spends much time in the Berlanti-verse… For Team Arrow, this sometimes involves locking up family members for weeks at a time in an attempt to get information about Damien Darhk....

Supernatural Season 12 Episode 11 We’ve seen Sam and Dean face down all sorts of life-ending scenarios. There was Sam stabbed, drained of blood by the fangsome Vetala, and mentally deteriorating after a bout in Hell. Dean has been killed hundreds of times by the Trickster, hunted by hell hounds and reapers, drained of life by Djinn and even hit with an aging spell. Dean has been hit with a memory loss spell and is going all Memento and freaking Sam right out....

6.17 My Heart Will Go On Sam and Dean are trying to help Bobby get over the death of Rufus with an investigation into a chain of mysterious deaths, all within one family. Bobby would rather stay home, so the brothers jump in their trusty Mustang and head off without him. Bobby’s wife, Ellen, has been away, but is now back and helps Bobby researching Sam and Dean’s investigation. Between them, they discover that all the victims had relatives on the Titanic, a very unremarkable ship that nothing ever happened to....

Meanwhile, all but Anya and Greg take off for the community, after weighing up the pros and cons of Abby’s report. Price goes on the charm offensive to Willis, but he’s not able to keep his criminal past a secret for long when there’s a copper about. Al soon finds the cost of luxury is far too high, but with so few children in the community, he’s not able to take an equally unhappy Naj without a struggle… And back at the ranch, a couple of thugs have their eyes on Anya… Adrian Nation’s radio version of Terry Hodges’ classic computer game, Blake’s Daleks (or something) is still developing nicely; the gang meet The Community, are frozen out, and lines are clearly drawn....

“Time of Death” was well-paced, well-written, superlatively acted, and, in short, the whole episode hummed along like a stunning like spaceship that I want to carry around in my pants. I. I’m not entirely sure what I mean by that? But I know it’s good, and I know I’m standing by it. This is a show that works best when there’s an immediate mission at hand. As such, the main gang’s ploy to draw out The Benefactor and reveal their identity (it’s totally Scott’s dad, right?...

1.4 Magic Bullet Still, an injured Derek stumbles into the way of Stiles and Scott, and since Scott’s got a job to do (find the magic bullet at Allison’s house and save Derek’s life), that leaves Stiles to care for the injured, angry Derek. And yes, it’s as amusing as you could imagine, given Stiles’ general character’s reality-based lifestyle and Hale’s brooding older werewolf shtick. Stiles, as a character, is a great grounding element to the show, and he’s generally the best thing about whatever scene he’s in....
