What else changed during Season 2? Pacing, character development, the heavyhanded use of allegory and a sudden burning desire in the hearts of the audience to buy a Hyundai. I’m 99.999% sure that Hershel had another daughter and at least four other people living with them; it’s hard to say. It felt like people were just wandering around in the background, maybe even speaking a line every two or three episodes....
2.6 Secrets Of course, what’s a good Walking Dead episode without some zombies? This week’s episode was a pretty good one by the show’s recent standards, with some things actually happening in between all the talking (and for a change, the talking was actually pretty good). They covered a lot of issues this week, from Lori’s pregnancy and her quandary on whether or not to try to end said pregnancy to gun control when it comes to tweens after the zombie outbreak....
It seems like high praise, given the many brilliant television shows that have been on the air, especially in recent cable years, but after watching the forthcoming episode of The Walking Dead, I don’t believe I’m reaching too far in that assertion. Rather than delaying with a flashback, or a catch-up, or something of that nature, The Suicide King jumps right into the moment where the show left off, immediately kicks off action scenes, and does not let up for a good portion of the episode....
The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 Rick’s plan sucks. Why on this zombie-infested Earth would he think it was a good idea to show up at the Heapsters’ junkyard alone? Please don’t bother making the “he has something up his sleeve, obviously” argument to me. The fact that the show could possibly suggest that this is the most credible course of action after cornering the Saviors SIX episodes ago is absolutely insulting to its viewers....
In episode 1, Mayor Tommy Carcetti had run out of money as he’s been spending what little budget he’s got on the education in Baltimore to fulfil election promises. The Police Department budget has been cut back so far that overtime is paid in vouchers that will be redeemed ‘at a later date’ and the detectives have to share cars to cut maintenance costs. Push has come to shove and the police decide to shut down their investigation of the string of murders connected with the vacant properties....
The film opens with Mulder (Duchovny) standing outside Joliet State Correctional Institute with a suitcase in hand. Pulling up in an old police car bought at auction is Scully (Gillian Anderson). After a quick trip to James Brown’s church in Chicago and a long talk with Cab Calloway, the two decide to get the band back together and save the orphanage in which they grew up. To set up the movie in as non-spoilery a way as possible, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder no longer work for the FBI....

At the end of last week’s opener, I wondered what could come to distinguish What Remains from every other corpse-fancying, revolving suspect-wheel murder mystery on TV. With its reflections on loneliness and friendship, episode two provided my answer. What Remains stands apart because of its compassion. Now the morgue drawer has shut on that horrid decomposed-neighbour prop, the second hour of the series felt a great deal less sensationalised, and a great deal more humane....
This is when I turn my mind to a much easier debate: which Star Trekseries has the best opening sequence. Sure, it’s still a tough, emotionally-complex question, but the stakes are much lower. Just like in the discussion of favorite Star TrekTV series, we all have different things we prioritize and look for in our opening sequences. Are you a sucker for the song? Do you look for an intro that best reflects the values and interests of the series it represents?...
Heck, it’s a film that even gets you forgiving the fact that it spends 140-odd minutes leading up to a massive event, well worthy of pushing the most powerful superhero of them all, only for it all to be unravelled through a crappy script cheat. Don’t overlook the seemingly simple things, either. There’s the set for Lex Luthor’s underground lair. The time spent in the busy, extras-packed offices of the Daily Planet....
Variety is reporting that Reynolds will reprise the role, although no timescales have been put on the project. We do know that Deadpool is the focus of one of the assorted endings to Wolverine that are attached to the end of some of the prints showing in cinemas now. Variety
That’s not to say there’s not tonnes of potential here. The world of fame and fashion has only grown more absurd since 2001 and, in fact, the real world sometimes feels a little closer to the arch vapidity depicted in the original film. Social media has all but taken over the world, the Kardashians are somehow seen to be worth keeping up with and if Instagram and selfie sticks hadn’t already existed at the time that this one got the greenlight, Mugatu would have had to invent them....
Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) gets an idea on how to save the six Americans. His plan is to say that the six are a scouting crew for a film looking into Iran and then the men will disguise themselves as a film crew and swoop in to rescue them. Mendez enlists John Chambers (John Goodman), a big time movie producer, to aid him in creating a production company to produce a fake movie in order to create a realistic cover....
12 Monkeys Season 2, Episode 12 Condensing a year-long investigation or journey to Titan into one episode would be challenging enough, but this week, 12 Monkeys manages to include the years following the mission to prevent the 1957 paradox and does so with amazing depth. Anyone whose head isn’t spinning after the final moments of this episode has an iron constitution, especially with the dissonance of the love and death scenes cut together....
12 Monkeys Season 2, Episode 6 Well, the bubble finally burst as 12 Monkeys turns out its first merely excellent rather than mind-blowingly awesome episode. How funny that even a Primary-of-the-week installment can still blow conventional sci-fi shows out of the water! There was still plenty to learn, though, as the Witness lays his cards on the table with Cassie, and Cole and Ramse find that a minor change in history can help reduce the threat of the red forest in 2044....

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 19 Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD kicks off another Framework episode with a killer opening as Daisy bursts out of her cocoon using her Quake powers and things just got more intense from there. The action gets very Matrix-like as the newly created Quake and May attack HYDRA HQ with May playing the role of Trinity, because if you’re gonna do a Matrix riff, you might as well get all the flippy, shooty, fighty bells and whistles in there....
Prometheus was a lot of things, but one of the things it seldom felt like was an Alien movie. In some respects, this was a positive; rather than offer a straight retread of his 1979 hit, director Ridley Scott went off in another direction – broadening out the Alien universe with tales of humanity’s origins and ancient gods on the other side of the galaxy. There were slithering monsters and moments of psycho-sexual menace, but the beast from Alien was nowhere to be seen....
Karl Urban is John Kennex, a police detective who has been out of the loop for several years after losing his partner (and his leg) in a firefight. This is what kicks off the episode and it is plenty loud and plenty violent and the RoboCop comparisons are as unavoidable as they are deliberate. Kennex, upon his return to the force, sports a synthetic leg graft and a desperate need to unlock the truth of what went wrong on that day....
American Dad Season 13 Episode 9 So how’s everyone doing now that the dread hour is no longer upon us? American Dad has established a strong cast of supporting characters through its many seasons. There are a number of residents of Langley Falls that are more than capable of shouldering the responsibility of anchoring a storyline, with even people like Greg and Terry getting the honor. So as glorious of a character as Roger is, it’s always nice when he can take a backseat in favor of someone else....
