4.10 Inmates Last week’s episode was focused squarely on the show’s core relationship and its second-most-popular character (that’d be Michonne). This week’s episode focuses on the show’s only semi-functional romantic relationship (Glenn and Maggie) and its break-out star (Daryl). Much like last week’s episode, the B story involving Maggie and Glenn – though not together, they’re very much connected as they’re looking for one another – is more satisfying than the A plot, in this case Daryl and Beth with a bit of Tyreese and his three children....

7.10 New Best Friends Technically, he met them last week when they popped up out of nowhere and took his group hostage. Still, this week we actually get an introduction to the group, led by the extreme bangs of Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) who lords over a community of people who live in a junkyard. The Junkers all speak broken English, as does their leader, and they all do all their shopping at the “Wastelander Unlimited” store founded in Tomorrow-morrow land by Captain Walker, of Mad Max Beyond The Thunderdome fame....

Radcliffe and director James Watkins are nowhere to be seen in the sequel, Angel Of Death, but the staples of the first film are otherwise present and correct. It’s 40 years after the events of the last story, and London’s crumbling as Nazi bombs fall at the height of World War II. There, Eve befriends a dreamy pilot named Harry (Warhorse’s Jeremy Irvine), who serves at a nearby airbase, and takes under her wing a quiet little orphan, Edward (Oaklee Pendergast) who clutches to a pencil drawing of the parents he lost in the blitz just days before....

A single word: unsuccessful. That’s the final bullet point in surgeon Jon Allerton’s presentation on his treatment of a 15-year-old male stab victim. For the treatment to be under discussion at a Morbidity & Mortality meeting, the outcome would necessarily have been such, but the detachment of that word feels inadequate, almost callous. An ‘unsuccessful outcome’ is medical euphemism, language anesthetised to cover up the painful truth. Having met a brick wall in his attempts to lodge an official complaint against Jon, Dan took matters into his own hands....

Thankfully, knowledge of either film is unnecessary as this opening gambit, Beck’s Beginning, sets the story and the history right from the start. Fans of Tron: Legacy (all twelve of you) may have a rough old time trying to canonize the series but it’s best not to think about such things and enjoy what is an insanely well-crafted and highly entertaining episode. The plot sees adventurous youngster Beck (voiced by Ring Boy, Elijah Wood) kick off a revolution in his home Argon City in The Grid (the creation of which we witnessed in the first movie)....

Still pouting over Sookie’s rejection after their brush with the law, Bill nonetheless keeps his engagement to speak at the Descendants of the Glorious Dead meeting, as a gentleman should. His appearance draws quite a crowd, including some rapscallions who actually took time out of their day to show up and crush garlic in his general direction. The speech, with its tales of bravery and amputation, wins over the crowd, and Bill’s tears at seeing a picture of the family he abandoned definitely did something to Sookie....

Turn (or, as AMC writes it, TURN) is a spy thriller set during the Revolutionary War. More specifically, it starts in autumn 1776* after the Continental Congress has declared independence and the British military has returned to the thirteen colonies in overwhelming force, driving the American army off Long Island, off Manhattan, and (at the low point) into New Jersey. What the Americans need, a captain named Benjamin Tallmadge (Seth Numrich) tells Gen....

Twin Peaks Season 3 Episode 11 Action! Thrills! Spills! And damn good cherry pie! On the soap opera side of things, it was great to finally get clarification on Bobby and Shelly’s relationship. Though Becky is their daughter, sadly, the two of them aren’t together anymore. It seems Becky, much like her mother, married young and, also like her mother, has rather poor taste in men. To wit, now that Bobby’s actually a good guy, Shelly’s instead head over heels for yet another drug dealer....

3.7 There’s A Body All Right Take my use of “strides” and “some sense” with a grain of salt, though. It’s just that, with the pace of this series, getting a few small steps forward in plot feels like a giant leap. Regardless, it was refreshing and appreciated that we got some new, mostly comprehensible developments and also that a lot of it went down, for a change, in the town of Twin Peaks itself....

Tyrannosaur is a film that starts with a dog being kicked to death right after the opening credits, and proceeds further into the abyss from there. Then, in the midst of an existential crisis, Joseph stumbles into a charity shop run by the timid, devoutly Christian Hannah (Olivia Colman). Hiding behind a rack of second-hand clothes, and petulantly refusing to emerge, Joseph very gradually begins to forge a terse, uneasy friendship with Hannah....

It’s the Dueling Subplots edition of V, or Everybody Loves Daddy Issues! Remember how last week I said the show was starting to show some signs of life by, you know, moving plots forward and having less of the characters standing around talking? Well, yeah, I take it all back. The only one of the family subplots that worked was, of course, Anna’s delivery of a bunch of V caviar into an Olympic-sized birthing pool....

Veep Season 6 Episode 10 Veep season 6, episode 10, “Groundbreaking,” tours the most monumental achievements and deepest crevices of former senator Selina Meyer’s (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) road to becoming the first woman president. As the bulldozers idle before breaking ground on the presidential library, a little reflection is in order. And nobody likes their reflection more than the former President of the United States. Amy’s (Anna Chlumsky) inert charm is undeniable, yet it’s been denied since at least the middle of her career as political support worker....

Emily’s flashbacks of her inability to leave the country due to homophobia and immigration reform calls to mind anti-immigration legislation and Mike Pence’s various homophobic policy positions that are actively harmful and dangerous. The eerie similarity to the airport protests this past fall when President Trump enacted the poorly planned Muslim Ban. Showing the ACLU legal aids at the airport made the distance between her reality and ours incredibly small....

Jordan, right now, is set to start filming Creed 2, the follow-up to the Rocky spin-off that Coogler directed. But this time, Coogler isn’t involved in the project, with Steven Caple Jr. set to direct the new movie instead. Coogler has now confirmed in a new interview that scheduling was part of the reason he couldn’t do the new film. But as it turns out, it’s not the only reason....

In fact, if I’m honest, this week’s episode was so good that I feel the show did itself a disservice by not making it clear from go all that it was capable of! I also feel like maybe I want to make out with Keith Allan now? And that’s weird, because he’s slowly turning into a zombie….on the show, anyway. If this is happening to him in life, that would be a strange and horrifying paradox....

The episode leads off with a helicopter flying around and then crashing. Michonne and Andrea see the crash and begin heading towards it–right, because it is always a good idea to go TOWARDS the trouble. Michonne and Andrea observe a group checking out the crash. They are captured by Merle Dixon, Daryl’s brother, who was left handcuffed atop a building in Atlanta in Season 1. This is an unexpected return of a strong character, who now has an advancement–a prosthetic bayonet attached to his hand (practical and aesthetically pleasing…well done, Merle)....

Oh, 30 Rock, how I’ve missed you and your crazy ways. We kick things off with Jack, Liz, Jenna and Tracy dining in a trendy Manhattan restaurant where Jack is making the team eat an intestinal-twisting food product called Cheesy Blasters, which is apparently a huge hit with Middle America and with Liz Lemon, who enthusiastically recounts the Cheesy Blasters commercial right down to its airborne, skateboarding mascot, Meat Cat....
