True Blood Season 3 Episode 9 Review

Having witnessed the glorious megalomania of Russell Edgington over the past few weeks, Everything Is Broken sees His Majesty finally tip the scales and descend into plain mania after discovering the puddle of goo that once was Talbot. His pain at the loss is almost touching, until he starts carting around what’s left of his lover in a particularly fine crystal decanter. Talbot always had a sartorial eye, but even he would have trouble with that outfit....

Twilight Eclipse Reviews Round Up

Appreciating that Twilight movies are pretty much review-proof at the best of times, it’s nonetheless some turnaround for the franchise to be on the receiving end of quite so much praise. Certainly it seems that the decision to let David Slade (30 Days Of Night, Hard Candy) direct the film was a good one, and much of the praise is being aimed in his direction. Not coming out quite so well are the pairing of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, yet nonetheless, the general consensus seems to be that this is by distance the best Twilight movie to date....

Undertaker Returns Again At Wwe Greatest Royal Rumble

Fast forward to the present, and Undertaker returned at WrestleMania 34, albeit in an abbreviated match again John Cena earlier this month. Now today, at WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, Undertaker is back again, this time in a casket match against Rusev. The ridiculous booking aside — the match was announced against Rusev, switched to Chris Jericho, and then back to Rusev — WWE has found a way to use Undertaker in abbreviated ways....

Vin Diesel Returns To Xxx

However, it now seems that Diesel is keen to return to the world of Xander Cage, with a third xXx movie very much on the cards (in spite of the commercial disappointment of the second). This will see Diesel’s special agent once more under the direction of Rob Cohen (who made the first xXx movie, but like his star, wasn’t around for the sequel). Cohen has just scored himself a summer hit with the third Mummy movie, and while no script is yet in place, he and Diesel have been reportedly agreed to return to the franchise....

Voltron Actors Don T Decide Canon

The actors will often be asked questions about the characters that haven’t been revealed in the show so they’ll often make something up off the top of their head or use their own acting choices as an answer. To many fans this was confirmation the character of Lance was actually bisexual. When we brought this up to Shada (with much gentle ribbing from Klaus) he was floored. “People pick up things and take things so out of context,” he laughs....

What To Expect From Stargate Universe Season 2

First up, then, is the slate of guest actors the show will have sprinkled over its twenty-episode run. Interestingly enough, French Stewart, who starred in the original Stargate film, is set to appear in an upcoming episode of SGU entitled Alliances, which is thirteenth in the season. He plays the new head of research at Stargate Command and, as such, may rack up some frequent flyer miles aboard the Destiny....

What To Expect When You Re Expecting Review

Maybe I’m not the target audience for that joke. And, on paper, I’m probably not the target audience for What To Expect When You’re Expecting. I’m a man who loves Army of Darkness and Road House. But, and I have absolutely no shame in writing this, I enjoyed the romantic comedy ensemble Valentine’s Day more than Cowboys & Aliens. Although considering how dull the latter is, that’s one of the least controversial things I’ll ever write....

What To Watch On Netflix Don T Trust The B In Apartment 23

The selection this week is the canceled-too-soon, former ABC series, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. Nahnatchka Khan’s (of American Dad! fame) Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, was a brilliant, yet mismanaged disaster from the get-go. In spite of being a widely hyped series before its launch, touting the return of James Van Der Beek to television (this is significant), and being given a cushy timeslot after Modern Family, it never really stood a chance due to ABC simply not being the right home for it....

Wii Fit Challenge Week 5

Ah, my first week at Condition 2 on the fattiness scale. While there is some sense of accomplishment, I can clearly see I have many months of work to go. The weeks of gargantuan weight loss are gone, and now I am seeing 1-2 pounds a week in weight loss. See, the thing is, society tells us what we are to be in all things. Will Sweeney Todd Bring Back The Movie Musical

The silent movie was dominant in Hollywood up until the late 1920s, with the wordless images of these movies proving to be universally appealing. The early talkies, the first of which date back to 1907, were plagued by sound problems and weak amplification but in the mid-1920s Warner Brothers began experimenting with a system of sound amplification called Vitaphone, a method of coordinating pictures to sound, that allowed a large cinema to be filled with sound....

24 Season 7 Episode 12 Review

Jack, Bill Buchanan, President Taylor, her daughter Olivia, Aaron Pierce, Kurtwood Smith’s senator Meyer and a whole host of secret service agents take it right in the face as Candyman (Tony Todd’s General Juma) wastes no time in successfully storming the facility with his mini army. This is what we finally have been waiting for. So proper, nail-biting tension. Perhaps the problem in the past isn’t just the repeat procedures the show takes, it’s that when the action happens, it is Jack who is at the centre of it all....

A Field In England Review

Amid the chaos of the 17th century war, four deserters stumble from the battlefields and head off in search of a pint of ale. Among them is Whitehead (Shearsmith), a meek, verbose “assistant to a gentleman of Norwich” on the trail of a thief called O’Neil, who’s stolen a collection of his master’s occult documents. Shot in black and white with a subtle sepia hue, A Field In England is arguably Wheatley’s most beautiful-looking film yet....

A Ghost Story Review

Fresh off the success of his Disney blockbuster Pete’s Dragon, David Lowery goes back to his indie roots to deliver this moving exploration of love, loss, regret and closure in the wake of death. A Ghost Story reunites the stars of Lowery’s breakout indie movie, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck. The setting of A Ghost Story is fantastical, just like Pete’s Dragon’s, but the two movies couldn’t be more different....

A Narrow Escape For The Doctor Who Christmas Special

The Doctor (and here I mean Tennant) mentioned during the course of the show that ‘nothing much’ was going on in London in 1851. Dare I suggest that 1851 has resounded in history as a turning point both for the industrial revolution and Victorian design and aesthetics? The advent of the great exhibition might have been at least worth a line of dialogue such as ‘Well, we’ve missed the great exhibition, I’m afraid’, if Davis was determined to set the special in that year....

Agents Of Shield Seeds Review

SHIELD was called to the school to investigate a mysterious assault on some of the school’s top students. Ward, Fitz, Simmons, and Skye investigate the assault involving a device that freezes moisture in the air. Marvel fans would have realized right away that Donnie Gill was responsible, but the show plays the reveal close and would have been a nice twist for those not in the know. Blizzard was never exactly an a-lister with anything near an iconically established origin, so this episode’s origin worked as well as any....

Alan Partridge Alpha Papa Review

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa clearly makes a conscious choice to avoid such a folly right from the start. This is firmly a film about a 55-year old man from Norwich, who stays within the bounds of Norfolk for the whole movie. In doing so, it inevitably opens the film up to accusations of being a little unambitious, or more of an extended television episode. Realistically, there’s a hint of truth to both of those criticisms....

Alex Of Venice Review

One of the best films to bow at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Alex of Venice would initially suggest casual familiarity with its focus on a family in upheaval and transition. But just as the title reflects a place that is less old world canals and gondolas, and more new age boardwalks and Ferris wheels, the movie finds a uniquely quizzical perspective on these timeless themes, overcoming within minutes genre conventions in favor of something startling authentic and infinitely endearing....

American Crime Story From The Ashes Of Tragedy Review

American Crime Story Season 1 Episode 1 I really don’t remember much about the O.J. Simpson trial. I was not even six when the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were discovered. American Dad Season 14 Episode 11 Review Casino Normale

American Dad Season 14 Episode 11 A lot of people consider “Tearjerker,” American Dad’s effortless James Bond parody back from season three to be one of the show’s most enjoyable efforts. “Casino Normale” doesn’t embrace its source material in as stylized a manner as “Tearjerker,” and it lacks some of the grander social commentary about Oscar bait that’s found in the earlier installment. That being said, it’s nice to see American Dad doing its best spy impression once more....
