After a bit of a rock n’ roll wait time (they told us 5:30…honest), Marvel kicks things off with a video montage of all their films. They get the expected response… Some footage is shown, including Ant-Man in action. Hopefully this hits the web in some format other than “phone camera vision” soon. Teaser shows Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in the Ant-Man suit on a flying insect, with Hank Pym’s voice guiding him....
5.7 A Lesson In Vengeance As ever, let’s begin with a short recap of this week’s action. Whilst celebrating Arthur and Gwen’s first anniversary, the pair’s hopes of a quiet, romantic picnic (with Merlin following behind) are scuppered when a roadside IED throws Arthur from his horse, injuring him and scaring away his steed. A couple of mercenaries hope to murder the King, but he’s a capable swordsman and makes short work of this inconvenience – with a bit of help from Merlin....
Yes, in the world of Monster Hunter – a world, I might add, that seems to delight, almost sadistically, in making players, regardless of experience, feel like rank amateurs when it comes to gaming, it may not be razor-sharp teeth or venomous spit that represents your worst fears, but is instead the unskippable, inescapable and downright unnecessarily long character animations your hunter goes through to do each and every action available to him....
Despite the B-movie trappings its title might suggest – and that it contains more than its fair share of giant aliens from outerspace – Monsters is more akin to a road movie or relationship drama than the bombastic, city-levelling event cinema of (Emmerich’s) Godzilla or Cloverfield. Into this wordless stand-off between humans and aliens steps Andrew Kaulder (Scoot McNairy), a free-spirited photographer keen to make his name by getting a few snapshots of the giant visitors....
Apparently, Schmidt has shaped his life based on the advice gleaned through his letter/e-mail correspondence with Michael Keaton. Unfortunately for Schmidt, the person who he’s been writing to hasn’t ever actually been Michael Keaton…obviously. The montage of Schmidt’s relationship with “Michael Keaton” is particularly hilarious. At learning this, Jess thinks that she can bring Schmidt out of his downward spiral, and starts to write to Schmidt. In true Jess fashion, she fails; apparently “Keaton” hasn’t talked to Schmidt in over three years....
Orphan Black Season 5 Episode 1 Season premieres are always tough because they’re charged with cleaning up after the finale cliffhangers, hooking in viewers, and setting up worthwhile season-long arcs. We expect so much of them after so much build up that they almost seem destined to fail. Sara tries to keep everyone safe That could really be the summary of the series. There were some great light touches throughout the episode of perfect characterization, like Sara lying to Felix about being okay, and Felix knowing immediately that she was lying....

Being of sound mind, Demelza quickly grew tired of that and so, after a cathartic dough-thumping session with old Prudie, she stepped into Ross’ boots and took matters into her own hands. Number one on her agenda was to find a place of worship for her brothers, whose decision to protest their exclusion from George’s church by standing outside it and singing hymns was more or less guaranteed to eventually get them killed....
In the first cut of the film, the two were set to appear in the Krispy Kreme during Kimberly and Trini’s little donut off. The scene was removed in editing, which prompted director Dean Israelite to bring the two back for the scene that eventually made it into the movie. It’s not hard to see why it was cut. The montage this scene was included in would have been seriously slowed down if it included the lingering shot of Johnson and Frank....
That said, there’s a bit of a negative perception around the franchise; for everyone who remembers it fondly, there’s someone else who remembers it as a campy load of rubbish. And that may explain why Power Rangers – Lionsgate’s reboot of the franchise for the Marvel Studios generation – is afraid to be a Power Rangers film. Barring a giddy-yet-traumatic pre-credits sequence, we don’t so much as glimpse a Power Ranger until around the one-hour mark....
Preacher Episode 7 We’ve spent the entire season thus far watching Jesse struggle to bring the word of God to the people of Annville. This played out a bit like a fish out of water story, and in some ways this is exactly what Jesse has been—out of his element. But in “El Valero” he’s forced to defend his church. But the episode’s bigger story isn’t the church standoff (which somehow devolves into a company picnic), it’s Eugene’s return from Hell!...
5.7 The Silence Of E. Lamb Since the return of Pretty Little Liars’ ubiquitous villain, A hasn’t really had to do much stirring of the pot. The girls, now with the addition of ultimate catalyst for drama, Alison, have been doing a decent enough job of fracturing their previously unbreakable bond all by themselves, and the added threat of a brand new (or old, have we determined which?) adversary is just the cherry on top of the stress cupcake....
Last week, we saw Connor open a mini-anomaly within the ARC, as he and April finally crack the final phase of Prospero for Philip. And as we kick things off this week, the more progressively sinister boss makes a personal appearance to see what his workers have created. While the two sides battle it out in a war of words, Connor states that the size of the anomaly is supposedly too small for anything to come through, which, of course, is completely wrong....
This week Gus is reflecting on his boring life when a man just like himself appears to commit suicide without any good reason. While it looks like a suicide, the guys just can’t shake the feeling that it is indeed a homicide. Gus is determined to prove the case is hinky, especially since the victim, John Russell, is virtually the same guy as him. He takes the case especially personally and sees himself in the death of the drone worker....
What an episode that was! I thought Robert might have more of an influence on things with two episodes to go but who’d have guessed Kerry would be the telekinetic tinkerer? Not me anywho. And may I just say before delving further into last night’s penultimate episode what a pleasure it was to watch actress Lisa Hammond growing into her role. I wasn’t convinced about her delivery of her lines earlier in the series but fair play to her as I think she really pulled it out of the bag last night with a performance that was really rather frightening at times....
The first time the show’s star Richard Dormer read the script, he said the structure dizzied him. “I kind of got used to it toward the end of the second episode. Then I was mystified and drawn in,” he told Den of Geek. “If you spell it differently, relic in the dictionary means something that is destroyed or ruined,” Dormer said. “Which is exactly what Gabriel is. He’s a relic of who he was....
Sadly, being a reality TV star and a television presenter of sorts are two separate arts, and “The Badger” demonstrates this with aplomb. As comfortable as if her back was being impaled onto rusty nails when talking to the camera, the programme is a bizarre, unfortunate and excruciatingly low-budget mix between The Apprentice and Gillian McKeith. “The Badger” basically goes into failing companies, barks some obnoxious orders, occasionally shows a scary smile (before resorting back to the proverbial snarling look of the bulldog-licking-piss-off-a-thistle) and then – yes!...
