4.10 The Mirror Has Three Faces Emily inadvertently, and somewhat unwillingly, does the most fact-finding this week as Mrs DiLaurentis invites her to stay in Alison’s old room while her house is being rebuilt. The other Liars think it’s a brilliant idea and coerce Emily into seizing the opportunity for crime solving. Not a lot of actual detective work is done, but she does have a nice heart-to-heart with Alison’s mother about being gay, loving Alison and their shared ‘delusions’ when it comes to mysterious blonde girls in the street....

1.6 Clean Up On Aisle Three The episode opens in a branch of Canadian Tire, a large warehouse-based retailer and not a fictional shop (would their appearance in the show be a boon to trade or not, I don’t know) where a Bollywood-watching security guard has his television viewing interrupted by a pack of Daemonosaurus, small, sharp-toothed raptor-like creatures. Returning to the very short pre-credits sequence, we see a fair few of the POV shots that have become this series’ trademark, something lacking from the original series in any big way, but that really benefits this production....

I really shouldn’t like Primeval as much as I do. The show has all the right elements but after every episode I feel deflated and a little bit conned. Yet weirdly I then keep coming back for more. I would compare the feeling of watching the show to sitting down to enjoy, say, Reign of Fire (because the poster had a dragon vs a helicopter on it) or episodes of Star Trek Voyager (because this series had potential, at the beginning anyway) – all the requisite bits are there but it’s hollow, empty and you think it should be a lot better than it actually is....

Technically, Young made her debut last month when she filled in for Jonathan Coachman. That performance went over so well, WWE decided to give her the role full time, moving Coachman off the three-man booth and making him the host of WWE’s kickoff shows prior to pay-per-views. Young joins a broadcast team of Michael Cole and Corey Graves. Young has been with WWE since 2012, when she left The Score in Canada....

Tre, of course, is becoming infamous with up-to-the-minute reports on just how great he is, and truthfully, he was never going to get the bullet come the final board room yesterday. That’s in spite of a seemingly inept stint as project manager, which involved throwing metaphorical darts and seeing where they landed. Yet Jadine had perfectly signposted the ending earlier in the programme, and the rest was just inevitable from there....

4.5 Remember Me At Starbase 133, Dr. Crusher welcomes aboard her mentor, Dr. Quaice, who tells her how awful it is to grow old because everyone you know and love is gone. Crusher ponders this bleak outlook as she goes to visit her son in engineering. Wesley is tinkering with warp fields when there’s a flash. He looks up and his mother is gone. If only it were that simple to get rid of all the Crushers....

2.4 The Outrageous Okona After Okona mocks Data’s inability to take a joke, Data spends more or less the rest of the episode in the holodeck learning to tell jokes and doing impressions of comedians who were presumably big news in 1980s America but who you’ll struggle to find a reference point for given some 25 years and 3000 miles extra distance. Whoopi Goldberg tries to help, but that mostly involves crapping on his every attempt to tell a joke....

See, Morty is getting sick of the types of adventures Rick takes him on. When we join the two of them, they’re just finishing up a particularly traumatic experience requiring Morty to murder demon clones of his mother, father, and sister. Believing that Rick’s leadership is the reason their adventures turn out so screwed up, Morty makes a bet with him that he can take them on a proper adventure, explaining: “Adventures are supposed to be simple and fun!...

1.8 I Need Light The adverts have been teasing audiences with hints of sex appeal, violence and style; something to spice up your Sunday nights a little. With the current trend of loving all things British and historical, and The Suspicions of Mr Whicher still fresh in our collective mind, what could be more iconic and on trend than a police procedural set in the heyday of Jack the Ripper?...

Brainwashed by the Dark Kingdom, Mamoru sets out to seize the Silver Crystal by getting closer to Sailor Moon and randomly picks Crown Game Center as a place to stage this operation. He hypnotizes Motoki into accepting him as his best friend Endou (having gotten rid of the actual Endou), and lays in wait for Usagi, who inexplicably has trouble recognizing him. All this leads to a confrontation in the Command Center beneath Crown, where Sailor Moon finally throws down with Tuxedo Mask....

In tonight’s episode of Scandal, “The Last Super,” somewhere in the middle of several scenes of charming banter, it’s decided that Jake will stay in the cell so Rowan won’t catch on to them. Olivia realizes that she is the only way they are going to get to her father. She is his weakness. They set it all up: she cries on the phone to him, making it seem like she’s ready to be taken under her father’s wing completely....

Scandal Season 7 Episode 10 I’m glad Scandal has finally settled my inner debate. Quinn isn’t dead. Long live Quinn! Rowan has morphed into Robin’s fairy grandfather, I suspect, trying to right the wrongs he committed as Olivia’s father. Or more truthfully, it comes from a place of vengeance and wanting to settle a score with Olivia’s having taken his dinosaur bones as a temporary hostage. Scandal isn’t a show that covers weighty topics or tips it white hat toward social or political commentary....

Scandal Season 7 Episode 1 Mellie Grant, at the end of season six on Scandal, has been sworn in as President of The United States. Olivia Pope and Jake Ballard took care of the pesky former Vice President Luna Vargas who planned her husband’s assassination in hopes of one day sitting in the big chair in the Oval Office. Her master plan didn’t unfold as she might have expected. Cyrus Beene, a man never to be trusted, is Vice President, in Luna’s absence....

Guys, Toby and Sylvester bicker at each other, causing a remote control plane to crash through a window, thereby causing men with machine guns to come out weapons a-blazin’! But what’s treated as the much bigger issue is the welcome material we get, albeit inevitable and feeling constructed as hell, in the return of Ralph’s father, Paige’s ex-husband (maybe? It’s never clarified), Drew Baker, as we struggle with whether this formerly untrustworthy guy can now be trusted, and how Walter feels in comparison to this rival for Paige’s heart....

Sharp Objects Episode 8 The best shock endings are the ones that do two things: they take you totally by surprise, and they make you say to yourself – that makes perfect sense. There were a number of wonderful short lines that punctuated key moments throughout this final episode. Amma, caught as the murderer, saying to Camille, “Don’t tell Momma” was wonderful. But it seems to me that Adora probably already did know....

As it happens, an awful lot. The titles then re-emphasise that this is a modern crime series that we’re watching and not a period piece, and great effort is made from the off to establish that this is a very modern Sherlock. But it’s one that, as it turns out, is faithful to the source material’s spirit, too. It’s not long into A Study In Pink that Watson comes into contact with Sherlock Holmes for the first time, and Steven Moffat’s script teases the build-up to his appearance terrifically well....

True to form, Blood demands no less than perfection from his offspring. giving her an ultimatum that she must achieve top marks or face being sent to a private college away from the friends she loves, after he sees Rich trying to make a quick getaway out of his house. That’ll teach his daughter to have a sex life. The pressure is now on for Grace to excel at directing the gang in a Shakespeare play, unwittingly casting the triad of Matty, Franky and Liv, who have their own drama to work through....

One of the biggest problems with season three of Sons Of Anarchy is that the writers seem to know where they’re going. They just seem to be having problems getting there. Case in point, this week’s episode. There’s nothing all that wrong with the episode at heart, but the pacing was all over the place and the story was simply frustrating. It opens where the last one started. Tara walks in on Jax with one of the porn girls....

7.12 Red Rose I was not ready for this. Even the most ardent fan of the series has to admit that this season has not been the best. There has been far too strong a focus on gang politics and not on the character drama that has driven this show from the start, and for much of this episode it seemed that this major problem was still very much in play....
