For those who aren’t curious about the legacy of an old BBC department, old Doctor Who soundtracks are more useful than you might think. Trust me, you haven’t Laserquested until you’ve laserquested to the soundtrack of Caves Of Androzani, and also acknowledged that ‘Laserquested’ is definitely a word. What you could do to the soundtrack of The Krotons (the debut Doctor Who story for pipe-smoking extraordinaire, Robert Holmes) is chiefly sit back, relax, and enjoy what sounds like a computer getting stoned out of its box....

10.7 The Pyramid At The End Of The World Put all these together? We’re all knackered chums, I’m afraid. You can almost imagine Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park explaining all of this, with a dribble of water running down his hand. Doctor Who has a go, but doesn’t look quite so Goldblum-y in a leather jacket. “I consent” Spoiler: it isn’t. Instead, it’s an object that looks suitably dramatic (which seems to be the key criteria for why a pyramid was chosen), and houses the monks from last week....

Picking up where Grange Hill left off, Downton Abbey’s fourth run has been the series of Big Social Themes. First there was rape, then there was race, and now comes abortion (not that, in keeping with the English tradition of linguistic whitewashing, any of those three words have yet been uttered on screen). This week saw the return of Anna’s attacker, Lady Rose snogging Jack Ross on the Thames, and Lady Edith pull a Juno by fleeing the abortion clinic and deciding to continue with her socially unacceptable pregnancy....

Dragon Ball Super Episode 23 “How nice. That scream was so full of despair. This is exactly what I was hoping for.” Beerus’ appetite for pizza inevitably sees Whis talking to their resident food contact, Bulma. At this point Bulma knows exactly how to manipulate Beerus and Whis who are continually led by their stomach. She baits her trap with the decadent promise of extravagant strawberry ice cream parfaits, but whether or not she actually has the dessert is irrelevant....

Thus, it’s a simple mission that faces Bolton and those under his command: they need to get their troops safely home, but the odds are mounting against them. As he makes it to the beach, so unfolds the sheer scale and magnitude of the situation, and as such, the film. As Nolan’s IMAX cameras take in the expanse of said beach, you can’t help but soak in just how desperate a situation everyone’s in....

Lilly spoke with Lost fan podcast The LOST Boys and detailed the time she felt cornered into a partial nude scene in the show’s third season. The beginning of Lost Season 3 was an infamously difficult time for the show. Lead characters Jack Shepherd (Matthew Fox), Sawyer (Josh Holloway), and Kate Austen (Lily) were locked in cages at the hands of the mysterious Others. Show creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse would later say that they felt trapped in figurative cages by their inability to negotiate an end of the show with ABC....

2.8 Death March That’s not much of a morale booster, and with Ben gone, morale has been pretty low. Still, Matt now has a creepy new friend who not only has a parasite harness on her back, but she’s also got some Teen Wolf-style monster scales and claws, and is obviously about halfway into skitter territory. Yet Weaver still picked her up. Great idea there. Matt and the girl, named Jenny, bond over their kid-ness and discuss just how the skitter/harnessed kid relationship works....

My frustration with this show continued unabated for most of this episode, until the final third where it suddenly set off in totally different, and more promising, direction. They’ve reworked the blackout events a few times now, and start with another where a bus goes into a lake. Only two people on the bus survive, who come around before they’ve drowned. And one of them, Ned, is admitted to hospital claiming that in his future he’s now black, “like Oprah”....

Their sketches take the fantastic and transform it into grey monotone of the mundane. 5.11 The Boy Must Live What’s been great about the last few stories in Fringe‘s ultimate arc is the focus on story, one that looks like it was worked out in the very early days of the show. I could be wrong, but it seems we were always destined to get here, irrespective of how many seasons it took to turn full circle. Though, it’s worth noting that even in this final season they’ve taken entirely pointless detours, like the one where Walter feared he was becoming his previous dark persona....

Although there’s still an episode to go in the current season, the latest installment has the feel of a Futurama finale, with an epic scope and some relationship issues to be addressed. Overclockwise concentrates on Bender (which makes it perfect already), who gets an illegal upgrade from Farnsworth’s ‘offspring’, Cubert – all just to win at a videogame (‘cos the shiny metal-assed one is no good at it). This modification alerts the authorities (well, Mom, as Bender has managed to beat her sons in said videogame), and due to this violation of the license agreement, Bender is hunted down....

5.9 The Dance Of Dragons In that sense, The Dance of Dragons has a lot to do to meet that high water mark, and maintain the tradition that the ninth episode of a season is the best episode of the season. Even though it doesn’t quite meet that mark, it’s still a great episode, and it features some spectacularly cool moments courtesy of the Mother of Dragons, one of her children, and her growing crew of interesting flunkies and hangers-on....

The first Dragon Ball saga, “Emperor Pilaf Saga,” pretty much re-uses and re-establishes the story and characters of Dragon Boy, only this time, it’s all about the mythical, wish-granting Dragon Balls....

The arrival of Rock Band – and the forthcoming Rock Band 2 – has upped the ante, however, by including a drum kit and microphone to replicate the entire band rather than just guitar-based instruments. Activision, publishers of the Guitar Hero franchise, has responded with World Tour – the latest instalment of the series that includes a drum kit and microphone alongside the usual axes. The instruments are the big changes this year, so it’s only fair to talk about them first....

It divides events between three threads, each of which demonstrates just how far from the season one tree the apple of the third season has fallen. As this is actually the core of this episode, it’s a shame that it’s so silly in places. What it’s a prime example of is the amazingly convenient world of Heroes, where things are placed just where they need to be or happen in a totally unrealistic way....

In this case, the outside is Oh (voiced well by Jim Parsons), a misfit who – for reasons I never really bought – isn’t that well liked by his people, the Boov. The Boov are led by Captain Smekday (and the film in turn is based on the book The True Meaning Of Smekday, by Adam Rex). Said Captain leads the Boov in their quest to run away from the slightest hint of danger, and hence to the planet Earth....
