In a new interview with The Huffington Post, however, Sonnenfeld has revealed that Chris O’Donnell – then off the back of Batman Forever – was the studio’s choice for one of the two lead roles. Sonnenfeld wanted Will Smith, the studio had an idea of pairing Chris O’Donnell with Clint Eastwood. He resorted to being, er, ‘economical with the truth’. It’s unclear quite what Chris O’Donnell thinks of this, but Sonnenfeld’s actions didn’t do the Men In Black films any harm....

The show has successfully touched on the mysterious druids on numerous occasions. The interplay between Mordred, Morganna and the druid mage Alvarr have been some of the strongest stories the series has told, with the idea that wild magic will eventually break Uther’s hold on the repression of magic in the land. Hidden away in the catacombs of Camelot, the Crystal is an artefact which we are told is of great power and that many wizards in the past have tried to use it to no avail....

4.3 The Wicked Day Arthur, however, isn’t too happy on this day of celebration, with the prince feeling the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders, despite Merlin’s attempt to show him that the circus, and this day, are a good thing for Camelot. Things are made somewhat better when Uther decides to join him in the banquet room, refusing to be left out of the celebrations. Of course, things never go well when someone visits Camelot, and it turns out The Gleeman is actually an assassin who just so happens to have a circus in tow....

There’s much in the novels by Ransom Riggs that seems tailor made for Tim Burton’s cheerfully macabre sensibility, and Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children arrives on the silver screen like an X-Men comic drawn by Edward Gorey. Viewers familiar with such movies as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Dark Shadows will recognise Burton’s handiwork here; Miss Peregrine is, in visual terms, a world away from the sterile CGI of his lesser movies, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and particularly 2010’s Alice In Wonderland, which felt like the work of a filmmaker going through the motions....

When Philip (Sam Claflin) receives news that that the man who raised him has died shortly after marrying the mysterious Rachel (Rachel Weisz), he plans to confront the woman he believes is responsible. After she arrives, however, Philip slowly falls for her charms and begins overlooking her suspicious behaviour despite the constant protestations of those around him. This is the kind of film that begins with the weather as a portent for dangerous things to come, the wind outside throwing open the shutters just as Philip learns of Rachel’s possible involvement in his beloved cousin’s life and subsequent death....

Tonight, though, Coach is back and it appears he will be for another two episodes after this as well. Schmidt is still mad at Jess and Nick, and even though he’s moved across the hall, he keeps coming back to the loft to take things like wind chimes and Jess’s toothpaste mid-brush. Winston was always intimidated by Coach, who called him “Shrimp Forks” due to his tiny hands, and tries to impress him in hilarious fashion at the strip club....

Liam Neeson stars as Bill Marks, an alcoholic air marshal who doesn’t like to fly. While working a transatlantic flight, Marks receives mysterious text messages, with the sender threatening to kill a passenger (or crew member) every twenty minutes unless $150 million is transferred into a bank account…an account which just happens to be in Marks’ name. The jittery, hungover air marshal finds himself manipulated into all manner of compromising situations, increasingly frequent violent outbursts, and some treatment of passengers that would make any civil libertarian very nervous....

You can say what you like about Not Going Out, and I’m a fully signed up fan of the show, but its hit rate and laugh count consistently impress. And it did once more, again, in last night’s episode. The whole scene was structured around the moment when Debbie The Possible Daughter dropped the bombshell that Lee might be her dad, just as the camera pulls round to Tim belting out the theme tune to Surprise, Surprise....

The first Now You See Me film was a bit of a disappointment for me. That’s the danger of a good trailer and stellar cast – if the script can’t meet the heights of audience anticipation then it’s doomed to fail. In the end, the twist made no sense, the characters didn’t gel and nothing really came together the way it was supposed to. Well, it’s opted for fun above logic, spectacle above plot....

8.1 Jeremy Therapised There’s no shortage of plot in this neatly packed first episode of the new series. Gerard’s funeral, Mark’s interview, and Jeremy’s therapy are all folded into twenty-five minutes of what remains one of the funniest comedies on TV. Mark might be turning Jez’s room into a home office, and Super Hans may have swapped the crack pipe for a shiny suit and a job in a toilet showroom, but Peep Show still fizzes with the same dysfunctional, sharply scripted magic....

Dick’s Electric Dreams Season 1 Episode 9 At the center of “The Commuter“ is one of those truths that, like the inevitability of death or how much salt they put in Kellogg’s Corn flakes, most of us prefer not to acknowledge. In a different life without our kids, we might be happier. We’d have fewer wrinkles, a tidier house and a better sex-life. The people we love aren’t always good for us....

Prey opens with police officer Marcus Farrow (John Simm) emerging from a crashed police van: not in his professional capacity, but as a prisoner. He swiftly makes an escape after helping the other victims of the crash in a bold opening that quickly sets the tone for the remaining episode. Flashback to three days earlier, Farrow is helping his colleague and friend, Sean (Craig Parkinson), with an investigation into a body that could be a missing Turkish gangster, the key to which could be on a couple of floppy disks which hold the original case files (it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a floppy disk as a crucial plot point)....

We kick things off this week in central London as an anomaly opens in a top riverside flat that has an unsuspecting assistant of a peer/art critic go investigating through the big shiny wobbly thing, getting infected by an Alien-like plant in the process. Tumbling back to present day he brings a very nasty, noxious and contagious spore infection with him, which in turn proceeds to infect and mutate the slimy art dealing blue-blood peer into, well, something only just a little bit worse....

The story is exactly the same: the death of local lothario weatherman Jackson Hale. As he does with most of his trysts, Jackson brings his ladies back to the TV studio for a little green screen action. That sounds much dirtier now that I’ve written it down. I imagine he normally uses that spot to record his liaisons and analyze his work afterward. I understand that it’s supposed to be the gang taking an old episode and giving an almost identical plot save for who the killer winds up to be....

Carentan stands out as one of the most action-packed episodes of the series. The Battle of Carentan was fought in order to ensure that the allied forces had an unbroken defensive line to protect against German attacks. When the blistering assault on Carentan begins and the bullets are whizzing by and people start being picked off, you get a small taste of the chaos these soldiers walked into. The assault itself was a tremendous piece of action with the men of Easy Company coming under heavy fire and taking several casualties....

By this final episode, the men of Easy have been through France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and finally, Austria. The tranquil and picturesque surroundings of the Bavarian and Austrian countryside brings into sharp focus just how far they have come since the series began. While in the Bavarian mountains, it’s fitting that it’s a band of Toccoa men who arrive first to take Hitler’s hilltop fortress, the Eagle’s Nest in Berchtesgarden....

In one of Sunnydale’s twelve graveyards, two of the Potentials slink nervously around gravestones. Buffy, as it turns out, has enlisted Spike to help teach them how to kill vampires, by, er, illustrating how easy it would be for a vampire to kill the girls. Apparently, this is to teach them to trust their instincts – i.e. run away, if they have to. While demonstrating, Buffy and Spike get awkwardly snuggly, leading to some cracks about whether you’re supposed to make out with vampires before staking them, and then the credits roll....
