The Vampire Diaries Season 4 Episode 9 Review O Come All Ye Faithful

4.9 O Come, All Ye Faithful Starting with Damon and Elena, we have to watch the couple try to find a moralistic path out of their sticky situation. It’s hard to care when nobody asked for or wanted an obstacle to their relationship, but the writers are keen to keep them apart anyway. The worst part about it is that it probably means one of them will take the cure at the end of the season, meaning that Elena’s vampirism could be temporary....

The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 7 Review Do You Remember The First Time

6.7 Do You Remember The First Time? The return of Damon to The Vampire Diaries’ A-plot two weeks ago brought with it the return of Delena, but this time with an added complication that meant the show’s former golden couple wouldn’t be able to enjoy the happy reunion a certain section of fans were hankering after. The good and bad thing about this is that, while they were separated, Vampire Diaries got good again, and there’s so much more to the show in its current form than love triangles and tired romantic pining....

The Walking Dead 104 Review

Dwight was followed by Jesus, who finds himself surrounded by 3 Saviours. The Saviours give him warning that they will kill him if they have to, but they don’t want to. Jesus successfully defends the first two, but is knocked out by Tara. Dwight stops Tara from killing him and says he is more useful alive. Dwight brings Jesus to the Saviours’ base, which looks like a large factory. It is awesomely surrounded by cement roadblocks, cars and zombies–think of it as a zombie moat....

The Walking Dead Rise Of The Governor Book Review

If you are not current with Season 3 of The Walking Dead, there will be some big surprises in store. The Story: What I expected was a cataloging of how The Governor, or Philip Blake, came to Woodbury and gradually took power. What I didn’t expect was the majority of the story being Philip, his daughter Penny, his brother Brian, and friend Nick traveling from here to there trying to scrape by a semblance of a living....

The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 13 Review Beside The Dying Fire

This review contains spoilers. Safety is a lie. Democracy is dead. Just when you think everything is starting to calm down, it all goes crazy. This is the game-changer for Rick and company. Their little safe barn out in the middle of Georgia? That was a lie. The thought that they could hold onto the old ways with the bickering and talking? Also a lie. Hope for the future? Well, that remains to be seen....

The Wedding Ringer Review

The Wedding Ringer, though, shares a bit in common with The Hangover films (don’t run away yet), and a bit in common with that Jennifer Lopez movie where she organises weddings for other people, but never one for herself. Don’t worry. Just teasing. I know what it’s called. It’s called… (two ticks)… The Wedding Planner! See? It’s all planners, ringers and singers. It’s a wedding movie viewed from the male side, and as a result, The Wedding Ringer gets one of the shallowest, soul-destroying female lead roles in a films of this ilk....

The White Queen The King Is Dead Review

King Edward’s fever breaks bad. The family gathers around and he gives his last orders. His brother Richard (Aneurin Barnard) is to protect his son Edward (Sonny Ashbourne Serkis), the new King, until he grows up and can hire people to look after him himself. This would make sense except for the fact that the person the young king needs protection from the most is Richard. Elizabeth sees this of course and tries to tell the king, but he wasn’t the brightest bulb at full wattage....

Torchwood Miracle Day Episode 4 Review Escape To L A

Escape To L.A. I remain impressed by Torchwood: Miracle Day so far. I think, when you consider what it’s achieved in just four episodes, it deserves some credit. It’s introduced the show to a new audience, it’s bedded in a big new story, it’s brought in a lot of new characters, and it’s still managed to get in some important touchpoints for fans of the old series. All of those are factors that the team behind Miracle Day deserves credit for....

Torchwood S1 2 Review

Two episodes in and already, Russell T Davis has allowed an idea normally saved for more well-known shows in their later seasons: I’m talking of – yes- sex aliens! Wacky. In episode two, entitled Day One, we got to see work get in the way of a romantic night between ex-Cardiff PC Gwen Cooper and her boyfriend Rhys, with a giant meteor crash jump-starting her first day as a part of Torchwood Three....

Twin Peaks Season 3 Episode 9 Review This Is The Chair

3.9 This Is The Chair Twin Peaks’ return has inspired a great deal of debate, much of which comes down to whether it’s actually any good at all. It continues to defy conventions so extremely that it’s near-impossible to assess its quality the way you would anything else. Some people think Lynch has lost it, and there are certainly aspects that might support that. It’s got loads of scenes that drag indulgently....

V Episode 4 Review

Given that V is going on hiatus for a soul-crushing three months, you’d think there would be something put out on screen to grab the viewer and make them want to return once the Winter Olympics are over. Of course, that’s my fault for expecting something I knew I wouldn’t get. There’s always the real season finale, though! This week’s show is very heavy on Fifth Column action, as it’s time for Father Jack – Action Priest!...

V Season 2 Episode 4 Review Unholy Alliance

I hate what seems to be happening to V. First, the first season gets bumped for the Winter Olympics and the ratings never recovered to the first heights. Then, this season, the order gets cut and a week gets bumped for the State of the Union Address. So: episode four, then. The Fifth Column is getting very popular these days. For example, there’s the group of Fifth Column that we know, and there’s Eli Cohn and his radical group of Fifth Column who undertake suicide bombings, throat-slitting, and all kinds of other underhanded, dangerous methods of fighting....

Veep Nev Ad A Review

Veep Season 5 Episode 2 It’s 5:02 a.m. in Reno, Nevada, where a recount is set to determine the fate of an unprecedented electoral dead heat and President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is having reservations about the Reservations. The Native Americans might be taking back their votes. I know that Jerry Seinfeld almost kind of said there is a phrase for this, but that might be offensive and Veep isn’t the kind of show to offend sensitive sensibilities....

Voltron Coran Humor Backstory And The 80S Series

Boy did they undersell him. From his first moments on screen Coran was an explosion of energy and comedy the series has reveled in. No longer a stuffy advisor, Coran is now more of a semi-tech expert that pilots the Castle of Lions ship and is an active player in combat. He also once was infected with a parasite that made him put on an out of this world Voltron stage show....

Voltron Season 7 Episode 12 Review Lions Pride Part 1

Voltron Season 7 Episode 12 Before I get to my deep analysis I want to take a moment to give credit to the amazing team behind Voltron. Often in these reviews I talk about the writing or acting but that’s only one part of the creation of this series. The countless artists, animators, editors, producers, people I don’t even know the names of, they make this show what it is. In every frame of this show they sell just how thrilling it is....

Wolfcop Dvd Review

Surprisingly well, to an extent. At certain points WolfCop is an absolute joy for fans of both gore and guffaws, with old school practical effects and a pun-laden script combining winningly for an enjoyable sub-80 minute romp. The biggest influence here is quite clearly An American Werewolf In London, and that’s no bad thing. The attempts to recreate the horror-classic-in-an-unlikely-location laughs, highly disturbing transformation scenes and even a pun-filled soundtrack generally fly quite well – offering much nostalgia for fans of 1980s kitsch....

Wynonna Earp Season 2 Episode 2 Review Shed Your Skin

Wynonna Earp Season 2, Episode 2 In many way, “Shed Your Skin” was the real start to Wynonna Earp‘s second season. While the season premiere had the herculean task of wrapping up the many cliffhangers from the Season 1 finale, tonight’s episode was able to slow down a bit, reflect on what has been lost, and begin some intriguing plot threads new to Season 2… When the Woman in Black first turned up, Wynonna only suspected that it was Willa because of the scent of perfume....

X Men 200 Review

There is no denying their popularity as characters, and as two films (I am reluctant to say three) prove, people have a taste for the merry mutants. Which brings me to this milestone 200th issue of Marvel’s mutant cash-cow, which in today’s fickle marketplace is an amazing feat itself, no matter how popular the characters. If, like me, you have all 200 issues (yup, I am that sad) and can remember back to the early 1990s and the first issue of the series (replete with multiple Jim Lee covers, many splash pages, Chris Claremont’s verbose scripts, Magneto, Asteroid M, Acolytes and garish yellow and blue costumes with more pockets than you could ever use), you’ll appreciate the team has come a long long way....

You Ve Been Trumped Too Review

It’s a piece of work that accepts many won’t have caught up with You’ve Been Trumped and A Dangerous Game, Baxter’s earlier documentaries that in turn focused on Donald Trump building a golf course against the wishes of residents and environmentalists, and then a broader look at the golf industry, centred around a face to face interview with Trump himself. A good chunk of what you get is recap, as Baxter takes us back to Balmedie in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where five years on from the construction of Trump’s course, he finds unresolved problems....

12 Monkeys Emergence Review

12 Monkeys Season 2, Episode 4 This wasn’t the finale, was it? It sure felt like it! With the larger goals of the Messengers – and by extension those of the Army of the 12 Monkeys – being made clearer each week, the release of the virus becomes minuscule by comparison. As science starts to bleed into mysticism, the philosophy of 12 Monkeys takes on epic proportions in a battle between good and evil, existence and destruction....
