12 Monkeys Season 2, Episode 10 12 Monkeys is judged sometimes on its emotional content and other times on the impressiveness of it’s time travel complexity. This week, the episode’s merits are in the latter category, and the causal loops were magnificently mind-bending. The story left viewers wondering, among other things, how the time travelers will proceed with Ramse and Cassie locked up and what Olivia will do now that she’s off the leash....
As any TV show from Mad Men to Peep Show can tell you, romantic relationships in the workplace can be problematic. Tales of unexpected pregnancy, jealous co-workers and awkward sexual encounters with IT support in the stationery cupboard all serve as warnings to keep our staplers very much in our desk drawers. But as this week’s 30 Rock tells us, the really problematic workplace relationships are the ones that go beyond mere exchange of bodily fluids and enter the tricky crossover realm of the work family....
5.12 Be Our Guest Much like Liz Taylor is the beating heart of Hotel, she’s also the beating heart of the hotel. With the death of the Countess and Will Drake’s empire in a shambles with the death of its sole creative force, the hotel is in trouble. The fact is, a fresh coat of paint and some new carpet won’t really boost the reputation of your hotel when everyone who goes there dies in graphic, brutal ways at the hands of a murderous ghost....
As usual, the episode starts with Nathan and Daniel, who are, again, up to no good. Nathan has taken to pranking his brother by pissing on him from great heights, much to the amusement of all Daniel’s friends. To save face, Daniel must prank his brother back, but on a larger scale. S.Mouse is still under house arrest, so after being dropped my his label, he creates a new recording studio in his parents’ living room, along with his best friend and producer, Danthony....
1.17 The Huntress Returns In the last episode, Tommy found out about Oliver’s dual identity, and wasn’t too happy about his best friend keeping such a huge secret from him. I’m glad that this wasn’t the whole story, since I sat through more than a couple of seasons of Smallville in which Clark and Lex skirted around his secret identity, as Tommy is actually more upset about his friend being a murderer....
Arrow Season 5 Episode 4 The past two episodes of Arrow have been focused heavily on building a team of newbies to help the now solo Oliver Queen in his ongoing quest to save Star City. The latest episode, “Penance,” was no different, except for one key thing – Fun. So far, these fresh young faces have been the functioning plot drivers of Season 5. Comprised of the terrific Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin), Rory “Ragman” Regan (Joe Dinicol) and Rene “Wild Dog” Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez), this new team has been a little lackluster thus far....
To get the grittier stuff out of the way first, the episode deals with the killing and mutilation of a teenage girl and the potential repeat of this crime by an emotionally disturbed waiter. This is pretty dark stuff, as I mentioned last week. Whereas Life On Mars mimicked The Sweeney in a lot of ways, Ashes To Ashes is tackling much darker subjects. So with these serious issues being the main thrust of the show, did it leave any room for fun?...
1.6 Wicks During episode three, Ana told Hood that he used to be kind. He responded by telling her that spending fifteen years in prison would drive kindness out of anyone. This episode shows us a little of how that happened, as well as telling us just how far Hood will now go to defend his new freedom. The opening scene immediately answers a question that Banshee had raised in the first half of the series....
2.8 Meltdown His rather singular manner was useful this week, helping to bring together the disparate storylines, or should that be knocking them together through quietly insistent force. His confident, demanding stride into Norma’s office at the beginning of the episode signalled his intention to be regarded as a man who cannot be ignored. Every trace of sweetness in his approach was now drained. There are no more tours of his boat, no gentle suggestions that Norma might want to consider running for council....
4.2 That Time Of The Month We open where we left off last week: Suzanna, on the porch in front of a stunned Aidan. He stares at her, taking in that this is really happening. It says so much about Aidan’s messed-up life that, faced with this seemingly improbable event, the first words out of his mouth are not, “How? Why?” Instead, he invites her in because Aidan Waite has manners thank you very much and when one’s wife comes back from the dead one does not allow a lady to stand outside in the hot sun....

Not because we need the cash, but because we knew there were 1,000 stories left to tell and 10,000 characters left to create....

1.5 Alpine Shepherd Boy While by no means a bad episode, Alpine Shepherd Boy marks the first time since the premiere that I’ve become preoccupied with the question of whether Better Call Saul is justifying its own existence. All of the performances are typically on point, particularly Bob Odenkirk’s, and many individual scenes are very good, but the whole thing ends up feeling like less than the sum of its parts....
Of all the possible reactions to a whodunit revelation – furious disbelief, knowing nods, cries of ‘I knew it!’ – lowest on the hoped-for list is indifference. Who’s the killer? Oh, them. Is the cricket on next? Learning the truth about Sandbrook provided roughly the same level of satisfaction as pulling into a convenient parking space or popping a spoon through the metallic lid on a new jar of coffee....
Lesnar’s contract with WWE reportedly expires not long after WrestleMania. Lesnar would have to re-enter the USADA’s Drug Testing Protocal for a UFC return, and that would also mean he would have to serve the last six months of his suspension. Lesnar was suspended by the USADA for testing positive for banned substances following his fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Even if Lesnar re-entered the program today, he wouldn’t be able to fight for the UFC until August at the earliest....
Defusing Hank would be an error in judgment for Californication’s writing team. Even when Hank is behaving at his absolute best as he was in “30 Minutes or Less,” trouble will find him. He’s beyond a chick magnet. He’s toxic, as Rath puts it, almost radioactive. Imperioli’s brilliant Rick Rath has dished out plenty of advice to Hank thus far. Don’t start groping the actresses, he said, or the entire show will go down in flames....
Guinevere Arthur has always been portrayed as a noble leader of men, who himself was wronged when his wife Guinevere had an affair with his champion, Lancelot. Now it appears that the boot is on the other foot, as Arthur, overcome with desire simply because he dreamt of Guinevere (and who wouldn’t?), decides to seduce her. It’s hard to know where Arthur is coming from. In the first episode, he was portrayed as a bit of a Jack the Lad, who was sleeping with his brother’s girlfriend, but now, after meeting her twice and dreaming of her, we are meant to believe he is in love with Guinevere?...
Essentially the story of the rise of the Cylons, the pilot episode of Caprica is centred around two men. The first is Daniel Graystone, played by Eric Stoltz. He’s a rich man, with his own sports team, a flash house and a block about to be named after him at the school he attended. The heart of his riches comes from his invention of the holoband, a device that, at first glance, appears to be something akin to Second Life if it’d been invented by James Cameron....
Castle Rock Episode 9 Castle Rock played most of its cards this week and I’m a bit disappointed with the big reveal. The problem isn’t that it’s come from left field — Stephen King is a big fan of portals to alternate realities and universes; they’re sprinkled all over his work — but that it’s a bit predictable and an unbearably tidy explanation for the events surrounding the Kid and Henry Deaver....
6.4 Number One Fan That sound you heard at the end of this week’s Castle? That was a shared sigh of relief when we found out that Andrew Marlowe was done torturing us, at least for a while. Because this week was classic Castle. Beckett may be out of work and out of sorts, but it seems to have had no effect on her relationship with Castle. “I don’t know what to do,” she laments....
