Timeless Season 2 Episode 6 Review The King Of The Delta Blues

Timeless Season 2 Episode 6 At one point in this week’s Timeless, Rufus tells Connor, “That’s not how these missions work; they’re not your life counseling sessions.” But in a narrative sense, they kind of are! That’s why episodes like this work so well. Rittenhouse’s attempt to take out Robert Johnson, who bridged the blues and rock ’n’ roll to set off a chain reaction leading to the counterculture of the 60s, only creates an obstacle to overcome in a larger conflict....

Titanfall 2 Review

Release Date: October 28, 2016Platform: PlayStation 4 (reviewed), Xbox One, PC Developer: Remedy EntertainmentPublisher: Electronic Arts Genre: First-Person Shooter Frankly, I found the opening hours of Titanfall 2’s campaign to be a more than a little disappointing. I think everyone who had spent significant time with the original Titanfall expected a single-player campaign full of wide-open levels and multi-mech battles. Those levels do eventually show up, but before that, there are several hours of fairly standard on-foot first-person shooting and ridiculous excuses to keep you separated from your Titan....

Tony Hawk Ride Hands On Preview

As we grew, Tony grew, developing extra tricks, skills and modes with every instalment like extra appendages. Soon, you could skitch, revert, manual, wall-plant, and even get off your board in order to pelt a homeless man with tomatoes (Tony Hawk’s Underground, you will not be missed). Back in May, it was revealed that Activision, and new developer Robomodo, had a new trick up their sleeve: a peripheral. A peripheral!...

True Blood Season 2 Episode 5 Review

Our weekly dose of True Blood arrived on Sunday night, and after last week’s revelation that Daphne knows all about Sam’s secret, Never Let Me Go opens with Merlotte’s latest recruit revealing a secret of her own. By the luckiest of coincidences, it turns out that she’s a shape-shifter too, and just happens to take the form of a doe. That’s a doe. With a ‘d’. This little factoid tips the scales for Sam, who is now completely smitten with the worst waitress ever to grace Merlotte’s with her blondeness....

Veep C Tgate Review

Veep Season 5 Episode 6 The Meyer administration has a new gate and it’s driving the president into full-blown Nixon mode. While Richard M. was a tricky dick, Meyer’s country scandal is more transparent. Veep’s “Ctgate” doesn’t bail Selina Meyer’s presidency out of its meltdown, which is good for the audience and good for meltdowns everywhere. Dan (Reid Scott) is all lash as the congressional whip. The first order of fixing Jonah’s campaign is for the candidate to stop talking....

Veep Season 6 Premiere Review Omaha

Veep Season 6 Episode 1 Selina Meyer may not be president, even though she won the popular vote, but Veep’s season 6 premiere, “Omaha,” does not damage her approval rating. It’s been a year since Congress broke the voting stalemate and in that year Selina has gotten to know herself. While she spent her time lounging in a spa, wink wink, her predecessor sold his memoirs for a $20 million advance and her successor President Laura Montez has been running through Meyer’s presidential bucket list....

Voltron Is Lance Treated Right

Now, leading up to Voltron season 7, Lance has matured without losing the core essence of his character. He still jokes quite a bit but there’s more respect for everyone around him. Especially when it comes to Allura, he’s no longer trying to chat her up at every chance he gets. He’s respectful and puts her needs before his. Story editor Josh Hamilton also quells this idea of the writers hating Lance because he identifies with Lance personally....

Westworld Season 2 Peter Mullan As James Delos Is Perfect

Going into its second season premiere in 2005, Lost needed to finally reveal what was in the mythic “hatch” The season one finale never quite made it inside so it was widely assumed/hoped/demanded that the season two premiere would finally address the contents of the hatch. It did and the ultimate answer was pretty big. Ultimately the reveal didn’t alien most viewers and that’s because of what else was in the hatch....

What Made Gladiators Great

Yes, questions a-plenty. But let’s not look forward just yet. It’s time to look back with my top seven reasons Gladiators was TV gold. Would Gladiators have been the success it was if it wasn’t for the stalwart presenters? Probably, but they certainly added much to the mix. Prior to Gladiators, Ulrika was famous for being GMTV’s weatherwoman while Fash was an unknown quantity in the TV stakes. Sure he’d put in some tough tackles on the football pitch, but could he ask some tough questions to the contestants taking on the UK’s most glamorous hard men (and women)?...

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Review

Fey’s long-time writing partner Robert Carlock provides the script, based on Baker’s memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days In Afghanistan And Pakistan, whose New York Times review observed that the author presented herself “as a Tina Fey character.” Unsurprisingly, the transition from page to screen has been very smooth since Paramount optioned the book, even with various artistic liberties taken to make it more movie-shaped. As the film has it, when Kim is sent to Afghanistan to cover Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003, her unique qualifications are that she is unmarried and childless....

What’s more, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 helmer Denis Villeneuve has also confirmed that he had conversations with the Bond team about taking on the next movie. Why The Deadpool Animated Series Was Cancelled

The sensibilities of the creator, network, and creator all seemed to line up perfectly and should have created a fascinating series. Particularly if that “leaked script” Glover leaked was real. FX, however, declined to move forward with the Deadpool series, cancelling it back in March despite originally giving it a series order. That makes some more sense then. FX, for better or worse, has always maintained an artist-friendly reputation, allowing creative showrunners to do whatever they’d like within the boundaries of budget and standards and practices....

Z Nation Season Premiere Review

It’s also for you if you’re totally down for Zombie-based entertainment, but find other offerings like AMC’s The Walking Dead to be fare that is just a trifle too heavy for your liking. The riotous, mission-driven scenario that the Z Nation pilot offers is fun while still being urgent in tone: Probably because a zombie apocalypse kind of makes everything seem much more urgent. Visually, the zombies aren’t a whole lot to write home about....

2 Days In New York Review

But Delpy proved to be much more than the sum of her influences, as the film cut straight to the heart of its central relationship – that of Delpy’s nervous thirtysomething Marion and her nebbish American beau Jack, played by Adam Goldberg – while delivering both a searing portrait of its Parisian surroundings, and a consistently well-observed meet-the-parents farce. Jack is long gone, and Marion now lives with Mingus (Chris Rock), a radio DJ, with his daughter, and her son....

24 Live Another Day Day 9 8 00 9 00 P M Review

Tonight’s hour 8:00 – 9:00 p.m., to me, was the biggest game changer of the season. As someone who often uses that phrase, I’m currently questioning my understanding what it takes to change the game. By merely existing, 24 redefined how to flip a narrative on its head and then twist it around until your initial instincts were proven almost baseless in compassion to where the season ends up. If 24 wanted to win over my full attention, I needed them to go all in....

24 Season 7 Episode 18 Review

Hodges and his sleazy sidekick make their way over to the White House to have a face to face with the President and make their demands. The President is starting to get quite nervy as staff start to question her (and too right as well!). And Crikey! Hodges got there fast too. At 9 minutes into the show he’s walking inside the White House. I know this season is set in the future (as there have been year gaps between narrative years, so it’s probably at least 4 or 5 years ahead of us) but the idea that they may have made transport UBER-fast might be stretching things a bit....
