But then, staying true to their colors, the Matador writing staff hits us over the head with a cartoon mallet when Tony Bravo says, “I had this idea that maybe now I could be the person that they want me to be… But the only way I can protect my family is to stay away,” just in case we didn’t get it the first time around....
For those of you who’ve seen the resulting webisode, titled simply Vegas Baby!, and featuring the former immortal landing himself in jail, you’ll have caught a glimpse of new player Rudy, played by This Is England‘s Joseph Gilgun. He’s wearing the now-iconic orange jumpsuit that members of our gang finally managed to shed at the end of last season. Rudy is the main focus of episode one, as the first instalment juggles the introduction of his character, with the much anticipated new-power reveals....
The first season of NewsReaders was definitely one of the more underseen Adult Swim properties. The Childrens’ Hospital spinoff happened to produce some of the most intelligent wormholes into absurdist reporting of the year. It also acted as a rogues gallery for comedic voices like Michael Showalter and Wyatt Cenac to randomly write and episode and stop in for a piece of grounded craziness. So it’s very exciting that NewsReaders is back, in spite of it not being without Mather Zickel as host, Louis LaFonda....

So fans speculated some of this season’s magic would rub off on Power Rangers. To put it in other words? They hoped Super Megaforce would get past the near bottom basement bar Samurai and Megaforce set. We actually get scenes utilizing the side characters of Ernie and Mr....
1.10 Call And Response I’m not sure why I’m surprised that Preacher didn’t blink when it came to depicting God as an absent creator and the throne of heaven as empty save for an angel doing a poor imitation of the Almighty, and yet I am. It’s a fun moment, and it’s played out about as well as can be expected by Sam Catlin, who both wrote and directed this episode....
But what these press notes mean is that, in a world where it’s hard to go in blind to a new film, there’s one last opportunity to ruin the surprise. Which a lot of people do. They’ll cheerfully leaf through the notes, quite happy to find out a little more about a film that’s mere minutes from starting. And it’s not just press screenings – the internet is the world’s equivalent of press notes....
Epsiode 4 is called ‘Frescorts’, which hints at the subject by combining the words ‘Friend’ and ‘Escort’. The overall theme here is friendship in its many shades and hues. Unusually the lead character in this story is Emerson Cod, and it develops his aspirations to his lost daughter and introduces his inspirational mother. Calista Cod is a hard-bitten, cigar smoking private detective who brought her son up to be the gumshoe he ultimately became....
Quarry Season 1, Episode 5 On the one hand, perhaps it’s overly analytical to say that the trauma young Marcus experienced on the bus will lead to the discovery of his dead father’s hidden money, but on the other hand, consider this: would Joni have been babysitting if the attack on the bus hadn’t happened? And would the empty shaving kit have been pulled out of the closet for Ruth to see had Joni not been caught by Marcus finding it in the closet?...
After all, the 1986 Rampage arcade game walked in the considerable footsteps of the greatest movie monsters. George (the gorilla) and Lizzie (the dinosaur) were clearly influenced by King Kong and Godzilla, and even Ralph (the werewolf) owes at least a nod to the Universal Wolfman movies. The game’s large-scale destruction also seemed like exactly the kind of thing you’d see in the best monster movies, while the coin-op’s road trip across the US storyline felt oddly epic for an arcade title of that era....
One of the better aspects of the show so far (because I can make these calls after having watched all of two episodes) is the cold opening. From the pilot’s Clerks-like introduction to this week’s uninvited guest in bed (not who you’re thinking, it’s actually the box containing this week’s weapon of demonic interest), they’ve been fun and interesting, and have really segued well into what the general theme of the episode is for the week....
10.4 Entangled The last few episodes of Red Dwarf have – intentionally or otherwise – skirted the shores of controversy, with Taiwan Tony in Fathers and Suns, and an uncomfortable operation for Jesus (okay, not that one) in Lemons, sailing close to the wind for some viewers. I’m happy to report, then, that Entangled is unlikely to offend anyone – except, perhaps, people who eat garbage, who presumably have bigger problems to worry about than their portrayal here....
3.14 A Matter Of Perspective La Forge, who was also on the station, indicates that the mission has been tense. The very moment Riker beams back, there’s a power surge. They almost lose Riker’s signal, but the station explodes, killing Dr. Apgar! Sounds like a job for some kind of space detective. Unfortunately, there isn’t one available: as usual it’s up to Data and La Forge, AGAIN. Meanwhile, Chief Investigator Krag arrives to extradite Riker....
1.14 Angel One Oh good, it’s Angel One. Wait, did I say good? I’m fairly sure that’s not what I meant at all. On the way to the Neutral zone where the Romulans are causing trouble, the Enterprise drops in on Angel One to search for the possible survivors of a freighter disaster some years earlier. The planet is a strange one where (if you accept the episode’s highly dubious premise) social gender roles are flipped, so that the females are more dominant and physically imposing, and males are slight and weak-willed....
2.2 Am I Not Monstrous? Ripper Street has always taken a sort of historical tick box approach to its context, throwing in Marxist quotations and diatribes against prostitution when the needs arise, but never really delved any further into it, dropping it as soon as the plot picked up momentum. In this case, it was theories surrounding eugenics and heredity that were thrown into the mix and largely, they got it quite right (except the term eugenics was coined in Francis Galton’s Inquiries into Human Faculty and its Development, not Hereditary Genius)....
Scandal Season 5 Episode 18 The moment dreamy eyed Jake Ballard bumped into Liv back in season two, viewers fell for the adorable meet-cute and the instantaneous connection between Liv and Jake. Here our favorite, super sleuthing gladiator was finally eyeing a man other than Fitz and it was so refreshing! A smart choice by Shonda Rhimes to pull Scott Foley back on another Shondaland favorite (viewers first falling in love with him as Henry on Grey’s Anatomy)....
