Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel Episode 9 Review Outfoxed

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel Episode 9 I gotta give Super Ninja Steel a point for genuinely surprising me. I really thought next week’s anniversary episode would be totally stand alone and wouldn’t tie into the main series at all. Good on that Super Ninja Steel… but not so good on the execution. The Ninja Nexus Prism has been the weakest element of Ninja Steel as a whole with its ability to do pretty much anything....

Pretty Little Liars Season 6 Episode 2 Review Songs Of Innocence

6.2 Songs Of Innocence The previous two episodes, Welcome To The Dollhouse and Game On, Charles, were over-the-top, macabre PLL at its very, very best, but this is the other side of the show. It’s the Liars, their friendship and their furious resilience in the face of the all-out-war that is being themselves. The thing is, the show has always dealt with these things – the trauma, the desperate grasp for agency as a teenage girl, and the search for an identity even slightly your own, but it’s been a thing running in the background....

Psychoville Series 2 Episode 3 Review

Dreadful, dreadful news, gentle reader. One of Psychoville‘s most well-drawn and loveable characters is dead. It’s an eerie coincidence that one commenter at the foot of last week’s review wrote, “They wouldn’t kill Lomax… would they?” But they have. And as if the abrupt, bloody killings of Joy and Robert weren’t jarring enough, this week we have the shattering demise of poor Oscar Lomax to contend with, a traumatic moment whose shadow loomed large over the entire episode....

Pushing Daisies Season 2 Episode 9 Review

But now I’ve cleared my desk of 2008’s detritus, it’s time to get those Daisies properly in a row, and I’ve had time to pen my view of episode 9, The Legend of Merle McQuoddy. The writers decided studiously that they’d divide the cast into two teams, and run each on an independent plot thread, which worked exceptionally well. Chuck and Ned deal with Charles Charles, while for the most part it’s Emerson and Olive that detect the killer of Nora McQuoddy, harpooned while she cleaned the prism of the lighthouse where she lived in Papen County....

Quentin Tarantino S Star Trek Plans Are Bananas

Karl Urban of course plays the latest Doctor McCoy in J.J. Abrams’ rebooted film series, which is currently going through the wringer at Paramount, and he did not hide his excitement over the Pulp Fiction director’s burgeoning Trek project at last weekend’s Trekonderoga convention: And it looks like Tarantino plans to shoot his Star Trek movie with the established Kelvin crew, too: The actor thinks that, despite the current salary negotiation issues, Star Trek 4 will still go ahead, but if Tarantino’s film ends up being the one that actually gets made, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world: There is no release date set for either of these upcoming Star Trek projects, but we’ll update you when we know more....

Revisiting Buffy Season 7 Episode 19

Buffy walks down the street as a massive traffic jam builds up: everyone’s trying to leave Sunnydale at once, escaping before the apocalypse happens. Can’t really blame them, though I wonder why they never felt the need to leave before? Buffy spots Clem and goes over for a morale-destroying chat; he tells her that she should consider leaving town too, since he doesn’t think anyone could stop the apocalypse this time....

Revisiting Star Trek Tng A Matter Of Honor

2.8 A Matter of Honor Down at the shooting range, Riker and Picard play the futuristic equivalent of Duck Hunt while discussing the idea of sending an officer to a Klingon ship through the exchange program. Riker volunteers, ostensibly “because it’s never been done before,” but more likely because he’s sick of being sent to dangerous planets with nothing but a blind guy and a robot for support. Worf explains the command structure of Klingon ships to him, which involves being prepared to kill your superior if he appears to weaken (although again, we ask: who exactly made the famously raised-by-humans Worf the go-to expert on Klingons?...

Revisiting Star Trek Tng Galaxy S Child

4.16 Galaxy’s Child The Enterprise welcomes aboard Dr. Leah Brahms, an engine specialist who helped design the Enterprise’s engines. Geordi is looking forward to meeting her, mainly because in the previous season he fell in love with a hologram version of her. Clearly, none of this can go wrong. But somehow, it goes wrong. Brahms is uninterested in Geordi’s personal interest in her and cares more about negging his engineering modifications....

Revisiting Star Trek Tng Unnatural Selection

2.7 Unnatural Selection When the ship arrives at their planet, the leader of the researchers begs Picard to take their perfectly healthy, genetically-engineered children up to the ship, because they remain uninfected and represent a life’s work. Picard is understandably cautious, but eventually agrees to beam one up as long as he (the kid, not Picard) is encased in germ-containing plastic, which seems to satisfy everyone. After running every test she knows, Pulaski reassures Picard that the child is safe, but the Captain still refuses to release him because… you know, common sense....

Revisiting The X Files Season 1 E B E

1.17 E.B.E The entire thing kicks off over Iraqi air space when a pilot shoots down a UFO, which magically lands next to a US airbase in Turkey, an area in Turkey that looks surprisingly like Oregon. We then cut to a trucker on a US highway whose CB picks up multiple people talking about lights in the skies and police rushing about chasing said lights. That trucker is carrying a huge gun, and we see him use it when his truck shuts down unexpectedly, he sees a craft in the sky, and the back of the truck opens from the inside!...

Roman Reigns Wins Wwe Universal Title At Summerslam

WWE solved that problem … for a night, anyway. That cash-in never happened, because Lesnar hit Strowman with an F5 and then repeatedly beat him over the back with chair shots to leave him unconscious at ringside. Meanwhile, as soon as Lesnar stepped back into the ring, Reigns met him with a spear and a 1-2-3 to end Lesnar’s title reign. You would think that WWE, knowing it had an issue that it had to hide with Reigns winning, would rather look for a finish that wouldn’t get that response, instead of masking a bad finish to cover up a negative reaction....

Rubber Review

He finds issue with ET’s skin pigmentation, the assassination of Kennedy in JFK and the sanitary habits of the characters in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, but applauds their apparent lack of reason for how close they are to the “no reason” of real life. Robert goes through the motions of any serial killer, starting out with random murders, then stepping up to motivated killings, and even at one point stalking and lusting over a sexy young lady....

Skins Series 6 Episode 5 Review Mini

This review contains spoilers. Last year’s Mini-centric episode was considered one of the moments that could stand side-by-side with the show’s best. This year, it easily surpasses that. The reason the episode works, for me, is not because Mini is a great character (although she is), or because of the teenage drama that unfolds around her, but because it tells a story from beginning to end(ish), and Skins has a habit elsewhere of just selectively having things happen....

Sleepy Hollow Mama Review

To be sure, I am only too happy that this installment brought back Jenny Mills and the season-long underserviced Frank Irving. But in addition to revealing that the Tarrytown mental hospital has the most incompetent security department this side of a Bond villain’s lair, it also showcased how much the show has lacked a careful eye for these two important supporting characters from season one. Indeed, it felt monumental that they “returned” to Sleepy Hollow at all, leaving me to wonder where was the Ichabbie fanfare....

So Who Won The Rights To The Terminator

The auction’s early leader, it turned out, was Lionsgate, whose bid a few weeks back was confirmed as the stalking horse offer. In short, anyone who wanted to put their name forward as a potential bidder for the franchise had to meet Lionsgate’s offer just to stay in the game. So who did? Well, the firm who now has the rights to the Terminator games, movies, television shows and other spin-offs is … Pacificor....

Sons Of Anarchy Season 3 Episode 9 Review Turas

One of the most difficult things a writer can do is create a story in a setting that is completely different from what they are accustomed to. This week in Sons Of Anarchy, we’re still in Ireland, and whilst I have no complaints about the story this week, Kurt Sutter’s portrayal of the Northern Irish/Irish people is a little embarrassing. After building up this particular aspect of the plot for eight episodes, I would like to think that the audience would know that the Sons are supposed to be now in Ireland, and I say “supposed to be” because it’s pretty clear that a lot of it was shot in America....

Sons Of Anarchy Season 7 Episode 13 Review Papa S Goods

7.13 Papa’s Goods Last week I wondered just how much plot Sons Of Anarchy had left to wrap up in its final hour (or hour and a half; the episodes have gotten rather long). I mean, sure, there was business to attend to, but it was nothing huge. I’m unconvinced anyone was especially concerned about dealing with Barosky or Marks or the Irish. After seven years, the resolution we want to see is that of the characters we have known and loved for years, and in some ways the Sons Of Anarchy finale did succeed....

South Park Informative Murder Porn Review

Thankfully South Park is here to answer these questions. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are masters of putting what people are thinking into a crude half-hour theater. The topics may change and new players cycle in and out but at its core, South Park needs its key thespians to light up its ever-evolving stage. While the Minecraft gag didn’t pay off as well as the riffing on the cable company, South Park’s second episode of the season was well thought out, well constructed and consistent with the successful formula they’ve used in the past....

South Park Season 1 Episode 4 Review

George Clooney features in this episode as the guest star, except he’s lending his vocal talents to that of Stan’s new dog, Sparky, and as such only gets to utter a few “woofs” for the duration of the episode. Which is a good thing. The plot revolves that of masculinity, and the fact that Sparky shows signs of being a gay dog. He inexplicably turns up in a pink scarf one day, and can’t seem to refrain from banging all the other male dogs in South Park....

Spartacus Gods Of The Arena Episode 4 Review Beneath The Mask

Beneath The Mask In terms of graphic content, this show just keeps raising the bar to the point that, this week, there are more breasts, more graphic deaths and more man-junk on display than ever before.
