In amongst the usual rumors of ‘creative differences’ and the like, Kinberg himself has mused that with a project like Gambit, there’s no point doing half a job. The team seemingly want to do it right, or not at all. He went on to say that he hoped that Gambit doesn’t take that long to come to fruition, but that “it takes a little honing to get that tone and that voice exactly right. The character has such a specific voice in the comic in the same way that Deadpool has a specific voice in the comic, that we want to make sure that we capture that voice on the page. Really it’s just about getting a screenplay that is worthy of that character, and I think we’re really close right now.” Since then, we’ve heard very little else about the project – although Tatum is apparently still attached as the man himself. But now there are some new rumors, courtesy of Splash Report, who claim to have some script details, even though a writer hasn’t been announced.

Gambit Release Date

With three forthcoming X-Men movies out in 2018 alone, it’s now looking unlikely that we’ll see the character in his own flick until late-2019 or 2020 at the earliest.
