Hannibal Season 3 Episode 8 Review Great Red Dragon

3.8 Great Red Dragon You see, as an American, my exposure to Richard Armitage has been limited to what little of his work has crossed the pond and made itself easily accessible (thank you, BBC America), especially since my time living in England ended just as his star began to rise. Thus, short of his turns as Guy of Gisborne and Thorin, I haven’t had the opportunity to appreciate his skill as an actor....

Hard Sun Episode 6 Review

This review contains spoilers. Answers to questions like: why did Hicks kill Alex Butler? Why did Renko protect her rapist? Why did ‘they’ lie to MI5 Grace about the apocalyptic timescale? And what had distracted the planet’s meteorologists from spotting the fact that the sun was off on its holidays to Earth, all massive, with a tail? Accepting that Renko and Hicks were too busy playing The Sweeney with Grace to notice that London had turned into Mordor all of a sudden, surely other people must look up occasionally....

Haven Reflections Review

Since striking out on their own (actually, before that, when they split the booze and Duke disclosed painful secrets of his past) a sexy-time session between Duke and Mara was in the cards. That said, I was fairly certain that after Mara’s murder of a Troubled doctor last week that Duke would be spurred back towards the light and away from this woman and her crazed need for aether and working Thinny....

Hercules Review

Surrounded by a misfit group of fellow warriors-for-hire, Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules is the ultimate working class hero, even if he is meant to be the son of Zeus: he leads from the front, and wades into action while the noblemen he works for stand around in their purple cloaks, chatting and eating freshly-peeled grapes. Like a 4th century BC version of the A-Team, Hercules and his mercenaries work as soldiers of fortune, and having made short of a group of snaggle-toothed pirates, go off to work for Lord Cotys (John Hurt) of Thrace, whose land is being terrorised by an evil warlord called Rhesus (Tobias Santelmann) and his army of centaurs....

How The Stop Uwe Boll Petition Got Started In The First Place

I’m Bert Harvey, the writer of the “Stop Uwe Boll” petition circulating out on the Internet. I’d like to share some background and hopefully clarify a few things. First, I work in the games industry. I work day in and day out with the folks who put in long, crazy hours making games. It’s really a labor of love, since the hours generally suck and the pay isn’t wildly exciting....

Humans Star Ruth Bradley Teases Details Of Season 2

Humans was the sleeper hit last summer on AMC, exploring the concept of androids achieving consciousness well before Westworld came around, and a big part of the show’s success was the surprising turn of events surrounding the character of Detective Inspector Karen Voss, played by Ruth Bradley. With season 2 having premiered on Monday, Bradley shared some of what the future holds for her character (who begins her story arc next week) and the series at large....

Interview With Ben Abernathy Madefire S King Of Content

Ben Abernathy (BA): That’s a good question. I had been at DC for ten and a half years, and when they shuttered WildStorm, it evolved into DC Digital. It was all very exciting, and I was working for amazing people. But I had the opportunity to see a lot of purveyors of the “next generation” of the reading experience, and it was always interesting seeing what the next stage was....

Iron Man Press Conference Report

After being seated, the speaker began by asking how Favreau’s work on ‘Zarthura’ brought him to the attention of those in charge of ‘Iron Man’. Continuing to ask “can you perhaps tell us…” Favreau quickly interjected with “What Zarthura was?” in reference to the way the film was largely overlooked on its release. “It’s interesting, the way that Hollywood works. ‘Zarthura’ was one of those movies that, as Mel Brooks once said – it wasn’t released, it escaped....

Izombie Season 3 Episode 5 Review Spanking The Zombie

iZombie Season 3 Episode 5 This week on iZombie Major’s time finally ran out, Liv looks great in black leather, and people finally started calling her out on her weird, zombie-induced behavior. Love Review

In the near future, clean-cut astronaut Lee Miller (Gunner Wright) embarks on a solo mission to the International Space Station, where he hopes to carry out a few routine maintenance tasks before returning to Earth. Inevitably, things go wrong. There’s the suggestion that a full-scale war has broken out on terra firma, as a shaky voice from mission control tells Miller, “I want to bring you out of orbit, but I don’t have the people to do it… We’re going to need you to sit tight for a while....

Marc Webb Interview The Amazing Spider Man Villains Casting Sequels And More

As Webb explains in this interview, his take on Spider-Man is subtly different from Raimi’s, with his film drilling further back into Peter Parker’s childhood to bring out new aspects in this much-loved character. So with The Amazing Spider-Man in cinemas tomorrow, here’s our chat with Marc Webb, in which he talks about his favourite Spider-Man villains, casting, action sequences, and much more. 4.9 Lancelot Du Lac Elsewhere, Agravaine is summoned to Arthur’s room to hear the latest news from the King of Camelot. Merlin Series 4 Episode 1 Review The Darkest Hour Part One

4.1 The Darkest Hour Part One Finally giving Katie McGrath something to do other than look pretty and smirk evilly, Morgana has left a trail of destruction in Camelot, headed over to the Isle of the Blessed, sacrificed her sister to bolster her power, and is making plans to wreak further revenge on the people she had once called friends. By spilling the blood of Morgause, she breaks the seal between the world of the living and the dead, bringing us face-to-face with the Callieach (Gemma Jones), guardian of the Other World and unleashing a new evil upon the world of Camelot....

Misfits Episode 2 Review

As if it wasn’t hilarious enough to be watching Nathan getting caught up in a completely ridiculous, extended and very unsexy sex scene with his crush whom he met while helping out at the OAP centre tea dance, we discover, during said sex, that gorgeous young Ruth is, in fact, 82-year-old Ruth, who had been charged with the ability to de-age herself. This ballsy, unabashed plot twist helped in extending the core idea of the storm causing sudden superpowers in people outside our immediate protagonists....

Misfits Series 5 Episode 7 Review

We’re nearly there – the final hour of Misfits is only one week away and, judging by how darn entertaining the past seven weeks have been (and the lengthy promo we were given at the end of this episode), I’m looking forward to it immensely. This penultimate episode was weird in the way it seemed so determined to stay standalone and non-epic, but then that’s the show we know and love – if there’s going to be anything traditionally cinematic or finale-esque, my guess is they’ll save it until the very end....

Mr Robot Season 2 Episode 6 Review Master Slave

2.6 Master/Slave That opening sequence… Between Elliot’s beatdown and Dominique’s shootout in Beijing last week, the story I was looking forward to closure on more was definitely the shootout. It was so surprising and violent, whereas Elliot’s beating was certainly violent but not unexpected. Still, I could never have expected that the resolution of the attack on Elliot would involve 80’s USA Network graphics, grainy non-HD picture and a full-blown laughtrack....

My Favourite Christmas Film Elf

I admit Will Ferrell is a sort of a Marmite-like actor, either you like him or truly despise every curly hair on his oversize noggin. Personally, no matter how many lame comedies he has made recently or anything he could be roped into doing if the cash is right in the future he is, and always will be, Ron Burgundy. However, for this festive treat from Iron Man director Jon Favreau, the idea of chunky American blokes in such garish attire seems very fitting as, combining a sense of slap-sick humour, happy feel good moments, James Caan and a whole pile of sugar, syrup and dollops of Christmas cheer, Elf could have been very easily a movie that would not only rot your teeth but also your brain....

My Friend Dahmer Review

In this case, and it you haven’t figured it out from the title, it’s a study of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in his senior year of high school, and it’s a very different movie than some might be expecting, since it’s more teen angst drama than horror or thriller. At first, My Friend Dahmer feels like a cross between Napoleon Dynamite and the work of Daniel Clowes, who is presumably an influence on Derf’s own comics work....

New Worlds Episode 1 Review

“We’ve not forgotten the Devil’s Whore” said villainous Judge Jeffreys in a much-needed exposition scene in the New Worlds opener. With any luck, neither will have the viewers because tonight’s hour cut little slack for anyone dozing at the back. Fanshawe now has a new face (Nurse Jackie’s Eve Best plays the older version of Angela Riseborough’s character), a new husband (a Papist. Doomed), and her baby daughter, Beth, is fully grown (and played by Skins and The White Queen’s Freya Mavor)....

Noah Review

Russell Crowe stars as a battle-ready Noah, who scratches out a grim existence in a pre-flood world that’s part Sunday school story, part Mad Max; the soil is barren, food is scarce, and humanity has descended into feral madness. The planet is overrun by the sons of Cain, the first murderer, and his descendants – led by a seething Ray Winstone as Tubal-Cain – have stripped the landscape of its resources....
