Sons Of Anarchy Season 6 Episode 10 Review Huang Wu

6.10 Huang Wu We also have a very poignant scene this week in which Tara realizes just how much she is now endangering the lives of the people around her. Poor Margaret Murphy, who has been Tara’s only real ally when you think about it, is now in legitimate fear for her life, as is her lawyer Ally Lowen. It appears that Mr. Mayhem now affects pretty much every player in Tara’s life and when she breaks down and cries in her office where she faked her miscarriage perhaps Tara realizes that her sons are next on the list, no matter what she does....

South Park Season 16 Episode 14 Obama Wins Review

As the candidates made their last-ditch campaign stops Sunday, South Park Studios issued a press release stating that the season 16 finale would be titled: “Obama Wins.” Well, no. This time it was Cartman who decided the outcome of the election. The episode opens with Cartman on a mission to steal ballots in swing states by walking into polling precincts and pretending to be a lost child, oversized lollipop in-hand....

South Park Titties And Dragons Review

Hi there! When fellow DoGer Chris Longo asked me to step in and reflect upon what the “Black Friday Trilogy” in South Park has meant from a Game of Thrones context, all I could think about was…wieners. Now, hold on a second. I am NOT referring to wieners in the fixated passion with which Trey Parker and Matt Stone are implying is an imperative for George R.R. Martin and the larger HBO landscape....

South Park Season 1 Episode 7 Review

South Park gets its first of many hilarious Halloween specials. Events kick off innocently enough, with the school enjoying a Halloween costume contest in which half the class have turned up dressed as Chewbacca from Star Wars, while Cartman has shown up as Adolf Hitler. Outraged, the principle attempts to fit him with a more suitable outfit – a ghost costume that makes him look more like a member of the KKK, much to Chef’s horror....

Spooks Code 9 Episode 3 Review

What is really beginning to bug me about Code 9 is how abysmal they are as Spooks, because they appear to have no idea about espionage or even how to remain undercover. In two episodes now, their approach to finding someone has been to walk into his neighbourhood and then directly ask someone do they know him. Gosh, that’s an original approach! Funny how in both stories the target of the mission knew that they were coming, isn’t it?...

Spooks Series 8 Episode 6 Review

We kick things off with Ros babysitting Ryan Baisley, a whistleblower banker who has been infiltrating the shady multi-billion dollar banking conglomeration DeWits. Interested in only one thing, Baisley (played by Ewen Bremner, Spud from Trainspotting) wants MI5 to ‘up’ the amount they offered to get the information they require on the more dubious dealings the bank has been working on. However, unfortunately for Baisley, the banks want to keep their secrets and will do anything to stop him divulging the information, even going as far as to murder his new wife and step-son....

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 3 Episode 17 Review Ghosts Of Mortis

3.17 Ghosts Of Mortis The Mortis mini arc, comprising of three episodes, comes to end with some unexpected events and remarkable imagery. Oddly, though, it kicks off with a sense of déjà vu. Having just escaped the clutches of the titular planet, Obi Wan, Anakin and his Padawan Ashoka find their ship crash landing back on Mortis. Not unlike how the gang found themselves being returned in the previous installment....

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Episode 12 Review Legends Of The Lasat

2.12 Legends Of The Lasat Like last week’s episode, Legends Of The Lasat is one of many this season that explores the crew’s backstories. This time, it’s a story about faith and loss featuring Zeb. The episode is a vehicle for a beautiful new vista and some of the first Force magic that actually feels universal and larger than life. This season’s episodes still feel oddly disconnected from one another — Legends Of The Lasat doesn’t fix all of the technical issues that were exacerbated instead of smoothed out in season two — but it is an uplifting look at how Star Wars touches on spirtuality....

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 18 Review Ace Reporter

Supergirl Season 2, Episode 18 Now, that is how you do a filler episode. Aside from Kara’s return to CatCo as a reporter, “Ace Reporter” wasn’t a particularly important episode when it comes to the larger plot threads of Season 2. But what it lacked in moving the larger storylines along, it more than made up for in terms of character moments for Lena Luthor. As always, Supergirl is at its best when it is servicing the female relationships on this show....

Supergirl Season 3 Chyler Leigh Talks Sanvers Heartbreak

Alex and Maggie called it quits in “Damage,” tonight’s Supergirl, ending their engagement over the realization that, while Alex wants to be a mother, Maggie does not. Den of Geek was amongst a group of reporters who visited the Supergirl set today, and who talked to Chyler Leigh about the responsibility of telling Sanvers’ story, a narrative that has meant so much to so many, through their breakup. “I want to make sure that people know that, regardless [of what happens with Sanvers], they’re loved and that they matter and that the story that they have to tell is just as important as the story we told on the show and that that continues for them as well,” said Leigh....

Supernatural Reichenbach Review

The second episode of the season doesn’t pull its punches. We get to see three main storylines for Sam, Dean, and Castiel. Castiel is made aware that Dean is a demon. Let’s expect emotional trauma the next time they meet. “Reichenbach” opens on a flashback. The New Guy, Cole, explains that he is after Dean because Dean killed his father. This was accomplished with Ruby’s knife in the flashback, so we can assume Cole’s dear Dad was possessed at the time....

Supernatural Season 3 Episode 5 Review

The diagnosis? Fairy tales, read to a comatose girl poisoned by her stepmother. Sam convinces her father, a friendly and helpful doctor, to “let her go” while Dean saves Little Red Riding hood from the wolf. Successful, they give us ominous foreshadowing when the doctor says, “it’s really over” with fifteen minutes left. Also Sam swallows a lot and then leaves Dean sleeping in a motel bed. I’m getting tired of the writers beating simple things into our heads instead of giving us a little more dimension....

Supernatural Season 9 Episode 13 Review The Purge

9.13 The Purge The episode begins (after the obligatory opener of murder) with Dean, deep in concentration on his computer. He hasn’t slept all night, and he’s not looking good. Though he brushes it away with an offhand comment about staying up to watch films, it’s patently clear that it’s something else that’s been eating away at him: his conversation with Sam in the preceding episode. Sam’s made it clear that he doesn’t’ see their relationship, or “family,” the way Dean does, and Dean’s taken it hard....

Teen Wolf Episode 12 Review Code Breaker Season Finale

This review contains spoilers. Now that was a great example of how to do a season finale when you’re being picked up for a second season (or even if you’re not). There were a whole lot of plot threads resolved in the last episode of Teen Wolf for season one, and yet, there’s a whole lot of stuff left for the show to explore. For example, what’s the deal with Lydia and her allergic reaction to the werewolf bite?...

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 Episode 7 Review

In the first two minutes these plot elements are launched. There’s the arrival of a Terminator at Agent Ellison’s house and a break-in at the Connors’ safe house. From that point onwards it’s turn and burn all the way. From this point onwards, Cromartie is hot on the trail of the Connors this week, and gets very close indeed. The burglary at the safe house exposes the Connors, as the thief took fake IDs, credit cards and other items that might lead someone back to them....

That S My Boy Review

Fast-forward 25 years, and Donny Berger (Adam Sandler) is a human punchline. Like a lot of other child stars and instant celebrities, he blew his money on cars, women, and partying. Sure, it was fun at the time, but when you’re a celebrity father at 13, there’s not a lot of places you can go after that to keep the money coming in, and this was long before the celebrity reality show became a money-making staple for such non-famous folk as the Kardashians....

The Affair Season 3 Episode 5 Review 305

The Affair Season 3 Episode 5 “You may not want to remember me, but I want to remember you.” I actually kind of love that this episode begins at that moment of intersection between Alison and Noah that ended off last week’s installment. For a show that is so prone to take huge leaps in its timeline, seeing an episode pick up immediately where the one before ended is a little comforting....

The Crawling Ear Column Happy Birthday Root Boy Slim

Amidst the general weirdness was Root Boy, a pudgy, stringy-haired rocker in spandex, cape, and giant novelty glasses that spelled out the word “STONED.” His raspy performance of the generic bar rocker “Boogie ‘Til You Puke” (complete with all-too-real hacking near the end) seemed like some kind of joke with no real punch line. Still, there was determination in this strange fat man’s eyes. He was convinced that he was some kind of rock star....

One of eight known original pressings of Prince’s 1987 U.S. first pressing of The Black Album is available at an upcoming auction by Boston-based RR Auction. It is still factory sealed in its original shrink-wrap. It still has the late eighties “Explicit Lyrics, Parental Advisory” sticker. The Day Of The Triffids Episode 1 Review

The new two part BBC mini series was written by Patrick Harbinson, who has previously penned ER and Law & Order, and stars Dougray Scott as the botanist with the potential knowledge to save mankind. The tale has this time been split into two 90 minute episodes, which provides sufficient running time to cover the story in some detail. But first off I’d like to say that it was with some relief that what’s contained in the first half of this story isn’t massively divergent from what’s in the Wyndham original work....
