After a slight dip in quality last week, and a major dip in logic, Misfits more or less recovers this time around. But they’re also playing it a little safe with the plot, as a body swap story device that’s been seen so many times before seems a little stale in a show normally so innovative and unique. It’s a Kelly-centric episode without any Kelly, as she inadvertently switches consciousness with an unlucky girl in a coma....
I may have been the only person in the country who wasn’t completely in love with last week’s Misfits, but this episode takes a dramatic turn into an area that the show has history of doing extremely well. With lots of comedy mixed in with several dollops of tragedy and character development, we spend some more time with Finn, who has so far struggled to make a good impression on sceptical audiences....
Other than a brief establishing scene before the credits, the story pretty much starts in the middle of the action at Vince’s wedding reception. This is a refreshing change as usually we spend two or three minutes at the start of each episode setting up the main plot. Nelson is Vince’s best man and, on pain of death, must portray Vince in a positive light in his speech – in short, not telling stories that involve him “Doing anything vulgar, or killing anything, or using coarse language of any kind”....
2.9 Init5 But man, do I want to binge this entire second season of Mr. Robot once able. Not because it’s necessarily been worthy of a rewatch, though it is quite good. It’s because no other non-bingeable show demands to be binged quite like this one. Visual entertainment is so fractured across so many mediums and categorized even further within those mediums. Sam Esmail originally viewed Mr. Robot as a movie....
3.8 Don’t Delete Me It’s a tall task for any episode of television. Delving into the complex psyche of an emotionally stunted, heroin-abusing computer hacker isn’t the easiest task in the world. Particularly for a show as dependent on its visual style as Mr Robot. Still, Sam Esmail and Rami Malek are able to put together a believable, emotionally astute, if overly obligatory episode. Except for that kid. “Sam, we just came off of our most exciting and successful three-episode run ever!...
Portman’s co-star is Ashton Kutcher, who is, of course, famous both for being Bruce Willis’s son (apologies to Ricky Gervais) and for irritating other celebrities in MTV prank show Punk’d. Kutcher plays Adam, a wannabe TV writer who is struggling to get his scripts noticed, at least without employing some serious nepotism on behalf of his dad (Kevin Kline), who happens to be a famous sitcom actor. When Adam discovers Dad has been sleeping with his ex-girlfriend, he gets paralysingly drunk and calls everybody in his phone book in desperate need of a rebound hook-up....

Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel Episode 12 The first half of this episode finally dealt with an element that’s strangely been absent from Super Ninja Steel, that Levi is famous. We’ve had it touched on a few times but never in the context that Levi is a high school student who also was a world famous musician. It seemed a little odd fans didn’t accost him every day. Imagine if Taylor Swift just suddenly started going to a rando high school....
Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel Episode 5 I know for many of these Ninja Steel reviews I don’t really focus on the episodes. It’s kind of boring to keep saying “this wasn’t very good” over and over again so I’ve been focusing more on what each episode represents to the franchise as a whole. This one had plot elements that were introduced that ended up having no relevance. Jokes that only work if you completely divorce them from the episode at hand....
1.7 He Gone Of the characters on Preacher, the one that kind of draws the least attention is Jesse Custer himself. He’s the lead, and yet as far as I can tell, side characters like Tulip and Cassidy get the most attention, if only because it’s difficult to be a main character struggling with some sort of internal dilemma. Comic relief vampire and gun-toting tough broad are easier to draw attention to, but a man struggling under the weight of guilt and responsibility is a little more difficult (or a little too real) to pull people in....
6.10 Game Over, Charles Cece Drake, or more accurately, Charlotte DiLaurentis is A. With that decision, Pretty Little Liars exploded everything we knew and thought we knew about this show. Cece Drake was not an outside choice, of course, even before the Charles reveal in Welcome To The Dollhouse. As we approached this big finale, she was one of the strongest contenders, and that’s without seeing her for almost a full season....
Hmm. Well, that was a disappointing ending, certainly on a comedic level, to what has undoubtedly been my personal highlight of the BBC’s broadcasting calendar thus far in 2009. With a few loose ends left untied, it’s possible that there may be a second series or at the very least a spin-off involving some of the characters who didn’t bite the dust – presuming those that did leave us last night really have gone for good....
1.7 New Birthday No. Scratch that. It’s about the impossibility of doing that, which is rather unintentionally ironic, given that the show itself has successfully begun again. The problems of the first few episodes have been jettisoned and it’s hitting a nice groove now. It has removed the distracting detours into celeb-world and retains the connections to the seamier side of Hollywood only where they serve the central plot. It feels leaner and more focused and is all the more enjoyable for that....
2.20 Peak Performance The Enterprise welcomes on board a Zakdorn strategist named Sirma Kolrami, a snooty, arrogant man who appears to be a cross between Hans Moleman and Kim Jong Il. Although Picard and Riker protest the exercise, he’s here to oversee a war game between Picard and Riker to help Starfleet evaluate its crew in light of the Borg threat. Learning that Kolrami is a master of the game Strategema, Riker challenges him to a match, fully aware that he’ll lose....
4.1 The Best Of Both Worlds Part II Anyway, the credits roll and the Borg use that opportunity to fly off leaving a broken Enterprise behind so that the producers can save money on effects shots. (Remember: tell, don’t show, because it’s much cheaper that way.) At a crisis meeting, Admiral Hanson informs the crew that they’re gathering a 40-strong fleet to mmm-bop the Borg at Wolf 359, and that the Enterprise should meet them there for the inevitable victory party....
For the past 36 years, Roman has worked at a small defence firm, covering the invaluable backroom work while his respected senior partner, William H. Jackson faces judges and represents clients. When William has a serious heart attack, his firm is dissolved and Roman is offered work by a much larger firm run by his partner’s former student, George Pierce (Colin Farrell). Forced to find new employment, Roman reluctantly accepts, but the increased responsibility eventually leads to a momentary ethical lapse and a devastating personal upheaval....
First of all, Anna Faris has moved on to bigger and less embarrassing things, and has since been replaced by High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale. There’s a reason that Tisdale hasn’t been used for most of the promotional material, with trailers focusing almost exclusively on the movie’s first ten Lindsey Lohan and Charlie Sheen-containing minutes. To be fair, the most enjoyment you’ll get here is from their brief exchange, if you find wayward substance-addicted celebrities embarrassing themselves appealing....
But however adept the format’s users are, and director Chaganty is exceedingly skilled at it, you still need a good story and characters to weave all that digital business around. The whiny, self-absorbed kids of Searching’s immediate predecessors, Unfriended and Unfriended: The Dark Web (also produced by Bekmambetov) ultimately became largely annoying despite some of the eerie quality of the stories. But with Searching, Bekmambetov and Chaganty (who also co-wrote the script with Sev Ohanian) manage to assemble a gripping if somewhat conventional plot and place it on the very capable shoulders of star John Cho, best known as Sulu in the recent Star Trek movies....
