Due to some mean girl mischief, Jamey (a still-swoon worthy Noah Centineo of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before), a cute football player from the high school across town gets outcast Sierra Burgess’s phone number and mistakenly thinks he’s texting mean girl Veronica. In this multilayered tech-savvy take on Cyrano de Bergerac, Sierra falls for Jamey quickly and he for her, and Sierra decides to keep up the charade out of fear that she’ll lose him....

But also: jokes. Richard and Gavin’s business venture continues! But there is a troublesome interloper in the way. That’s right: Gavin has himself a blood boy – just a hot piece of ass who gives Gavin his young, healthy blood from time to time. You know, as one does. Problem is: the blood boy doesn’t really understand when to not offer his two cents. So Richard has to shut him down for the good of nerds everywhere....

But also: jokes. After each episode of Silicon Valley this season, we’re cataloguing our five favorite jokes. What constitutes a “joke” is often subjective. So don’t concern yourself too much with the proper definition of “jokes.” These are the five moments that made us laugh the hardest, ranked in order. 5.6 Small World This week’s episode is full of shocking moments where you wonder if Jax has gone too far. They certainly aren’t getting out of the drug muling business anytime soon, put it that way. This week, Jax and Pope’s business relationship goes a little deeper. It’s odd how quickly the relationship between the two has advanced, given that it looked like Pope was being set up as the main antagonist for the series, at least during the first few episodes (although there is definitely still time for that to happen)....

South Park Season 21 Episode 3 The hallmark of South Park is putting fairly ordinary kids into extraordinary situations and watching them react with either profound maturity or blistering ignorance. What’s been the saving grace for this show in the last decade has been using Randy Marsh as the wrench thrown into their playtime and the boys having to make the decision whether or not to dig him out of whatever mess he’s created....

This review contains spoilers. This week, the horizon came into view for this series of Spartacus: Vengeance, and there was certainly no doubt about the show’s willingness to acknowledge the impending conclusion. Major character deaths, huge plot developments – if I didn’t know better, I’d almost have thought that this episode was the finale itself! It’s impossible to go any further without mentioning this episode’s really big moment, though, and that’s the murder of Seppia....

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson called the city of Canto Bight “a new environment … like dunking your head in a cool bath of water.” That sounds both refreshing and shocking, which suits what we’ve seen in these stories so far. It’s a strange time in the world of physical discs. Whilst companies such as Arrow and Criterion continue to invest time, money and care into beautiful, crafted, and collectable releases, there’s a growing feeling that the era of the physical disc is coming to an end. DVD and Blu-ray sales are falling, some titles by-pass disc altogether and go straight to streaming services. Furthermore, extra features are becoming less the norm and more a bit of a luxury....

I only mentioned them as an example off the top of my head as something that’s sort of like art from the past when the awards were a bit more arty, a bit more cabaret based and if you have a poll like that, they’re exactly the kind of thing that doesn’t get mentioned because no one knows who they are....

Based on The Hostage – book number one of eight in the John Stratton series by Duncan Falconer – Stratton is about John Stratton (surprise!), a Special Boat Service operative (played by Dominic Cooper) who is currently tracking an international terrorist cell. The film opens in the middle of a mission which goes wrong (as these things do). Stratton’s partner dies and he returns to England in the knowledge that someone is on to him....

2.8 Medusa Like the rest of Supergirl season two, Medusa was an emotion-driven roller coaster of a ride that expanded this world and these characters in awesomely affecting ways. Pay attention during the crossover, other CW superhero TV shows. This is what it looks like when a show is firing on all narrative cylinders. The Superman mythos has family legacy at its heart. Both Clark and Kara are ambassadors of a dead world....

Abandon All Hope brought the show back to its high point after last week’s dip, The Real Ghostbusters. It marked the last 40 minute adventure for the boys before the show’s hiatus in America. Luckily for us Brits, we don’t need to wait six weeks for the next chapter in the saga. Still, it’s of little value considering we had to wait an extra five months for season 5 to finally roll onto our screens....

3.1 Tattoo There are times when I watch Teen Wolf that it makes me feel incredibly self-conscious about my actually viewing the programme. There are a lot of elements I like about the show, but every so often it lingers a little too long on a shirtless male actor in his early twenties and I’m instantly reminded that this isn’t the kind of show a guy over thirty is generally tuning into....

Contains Spoilers Can I just talk about Rebecca for a minute? Man, I can’t stand Rebecca. She’s always so whiny. Sure, she’s pregnant, and in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, but she could be a little less obnoxious with her worrying, right? Thankfully, this was it for her–I for one chose to shoot her without any hesitation. And, spoiler, Kenny shoots her if you don’t for an alternate ending anyway....

In fact, as we learn throughout the story, he’s already lived many life adventures, meaning we get to spend time with current Allan and past Allan, with the story jumping between the two. The film casts Robert Gustafsson in the title role, and he captures the mischief and coincidence that lies at the centre of Karlsson’s story. At first glance, it’s a bit Forrest Gump, as we discover that Karlsson and his love of explosives brought him into contact with some major figures throughout history....

The Americans Season 6 Episode 8 The Americans faces a problem with these last three episodes. Elizabeth goes on a mostly inward journey in “The Summit.” At episode’s beginning she is disgusted with her husband for betraying her and relaying details of her important mission to Oleg. By episode’s end, she does something unprecedented for her before a mission. She asks why. This is a satisfying, if predictable route for The Americans to take in its final hours....

The Assassination of Gianni Versace Episode 6 With episodes three through six, The Assassination of Gianni Versace has placed the lives of Cunanan’s victims front and center. They are used as a lens to explore Andrew, but they are also shown to be people in their own right, with their own lives and motivation before Cunanan was through. Listing the names at the opening of this episode was a stark reminder of the stakes of the series....
