Misfits Series 5 Episode 4 Review

It’s official – this final series of Misfits is really great. Following one pretty average opener, the last three episodes have been consistently strong, emotional and hilarious hours that almost make you sad they’re bowing out this year. It’s so great that a show can manage to go out on a high even after a difficult couple of years, and I just hope the next four episodes are equally entertaining....

My Hero Academia Episode 17 Review Strategy Strategy Strategy

My Hero Academia Episode 17 “Now you know the burden of being the best…” Midoriya might technically be leading the pack right now, but if he doesn’t come up with a major battle plan soon then he’ll be eliminated before he can even make use of his first place standing. The anxiety, fear, and doubt that stems from being in this precarious position is what “Strategy, Strategy, Strategy” is all about and even though it’s not the series’ most thrilling entry, it still delivers an exciting episode that deepens these characters and the events of the Sports Festival....

Our Interview With Eva Mendes

E: It’s not. I am working on this collection for New York and Company now, but this dress is an old Pierre Cardin. So I have decided to collaborate with New York and Company and create my own fashion line, which I didn’t foresee, but it feels right, right now. So I am taking out all my old vintage clothing from my closet and trying to resurrect it and see what can inspire me....

Peaky Blinders Series 2 Episode 6 Review

The thought that all hell would break loose at Epsom racecourse looked a tantalising choice of concept for the final episode of Peaky Blinders – and so it proved in a fitting and rip-roaring finale to the second series. Tommy’s highly orchestrated machinations pay off for the Shelbys, appearing to overcome Sabini’s bookies and outsmart him through an uneasy alliance with Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomons. The one scene Hardy has in the finale, a dangerous battle of wits with Cillian Murphy’s Tommy, is incredibly entertaining stuff....

Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Episode 23 Review Unbridled

2.23 Unbridled And, presumably, this is the last episode in which the Liars remain a four-piece, and having Alison back in the fold is an enticing prospect. Unbridled proved more than ever how much of a dead end we’ve reached when it comes to a Pretty Little Liars still holding out on answers and, after next week’s much-teased exposition dump, that should be rectified at least a little. The truth is that, the Ezra reveal aside, things are feeling a little stale....

Primeval Series 4 Episodes 1 And 2 Review Series Premiere

Episode 1 For those following the series, we were left (nearly two years ago) with Danny, Connor and Abby ‘Quantum Leaping’ through various dinosaur-infested time periods to stop Cutter’s mad wife, Helen, from destroying life as we know it. And while they succeeded in preventing the destruction of the human race, all three were trapped in various time periods. This was a great way to finish a series off, and as we kick things off this season we find that our heroes are still lost and that Connor and Abby are trapped in a time that looks very much like Jurassic Park III, filled with avian-looking Raptors and a rather nasty Spinosaurus that would give Spielberg’s dinos a run for their money....

Quarry His Deeds Were Scattered Review

Quarry Season 1, Episode 6 All kidding aside, Mac is the obvious choice for heroic killer, having already taken on Arthur’s debt, but viewers get even more chances to see his self-sacrificing nature this week. Having earned plenty of sympathy with his naked PTSD episode with the shotgun, the audience wants him to regain his life and get better, just as Joni does. Her attempt to sell the house out from under them to pay off his debt was an understandable gesture born of fear, but at least she knows now that he did indeed attempt to borrow money from his father....

Real Steel Review

It can be applied to Super 8, a production on which Spielberg was apparently very hands-on. Or Cowboys And Aliens, whose director, Jon Favreau, was given a list of western recommendations by Spielberg before shooting began. Or it can be applied as liberally as deciding to fire someone for comparing Michael Bay to Hitler, which I assume was the entirety of his input to the execrable Transformers: Dark Of The Moon....

Revisiting Star Trek Tng Brothers

4.3 Brothers After changing the course, gunning the throttle and disabling life support to the bridge, Data proceeds to give himself total control over the ship while the rest of the senior staff collect in Engineering looking helpless and throwing around desperate plans. “Prepare to separate the saucer section,” says Picard, perhaps forgetting that the saucer section – which he plans to leave under the control of a crazed robot – is home to hundreds of innocent families and Sickbay, which is where the kid they’re trying to save is....

Revisiting Star Trek Tng The Measure Of A Man

2.9 The Measure Of A Man More pressingly, the crew discover that local cyberneticist Commander Maddox has big plans to create a working positronic brain. And all he has to do is take Data apart. He asserts that he can probably put him back together again, you know, if he takes enough reference photos along the way, but for some reason no-one is particularly keen on the idea. So Maddox busts out a transfer order forcing Data to go with him....

Riverdale Spoiler Free Episodes 1 To 4 Review

Twenty-one minutes. That’s all it takes for Riverdale, The CW’s stylish blend of post-Gossip Girl teen drama and Twin Peaks-inspired mystery, to have Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) begin making out. But like everything in this highly addictive show, there’s so much more bubbling under the surface than you initially realise. “Check your sell-by date ladies, faux-lesbian kissing hasn’t been taboo since 1994” barks cheerleading squad leader/Heathers refugee Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch)....

Ronda Rousey Challenging For Her First Wwe Women S Title

Overexposing Rousey makes her less of a draw — look at the formula WWE has used with Brock Lesnar as an example of a formula that works — but not exposing Rousey to the audience can also diminish her drawing power and make her feel less important as far as stature on the roster. So, WWE was backed into a corner. Rousey wasn’t on the Greatest Royal Rumble (for obvious reasons) and she wasn’t on Backlash....

Shadowhunters Episode 1 Review The Mortal Cup

1.1 The Mortal Cup To give it its due, it gets the first part out of the way quickly and fairly elegantly. The opening sequence establishes that this is a magical world with demonic type nasties in it, and also people who hunt them. Then it pulls back to introduce us to the main character, Clary (Katherine McNamara). Just turned 18, she’s a talented enough artist to bag herself a place at a prestigious art school, and also quirky enough to be working on a graphic novel about monsters with her best friend....

Skyman 1 Dark Horse Comics Review

Skyman is a spinoff of Dark Horse’s Captain Midnight (and if you haven’t been reading that book, shame on you) and deals with the fallout from Skyman’s recent battle against the good Captain. The newest Skyman was a psycho racist that tried to blow up a building to bring down one of Captain Midnight’s enemies. Skyman #1 opens with the disgraced Skyman taking his frustrations out on an African-American bartender during a drunken bender, terrifying the elderly man; Skyman is filmed screaming racial invective at the elderly man while committing grave bodily harm on the helpless victim....

Sons Of Anarchy Season 5 Episode 4 Review Stolen Huffy

5.4 Stolen Huffy What this leaves us with is a kind of lopsided episode. There’s a fine tribute to Opie and some… well some other stuff. The majority of screen time outside of Opie’s funeral is given to Gemma following her being bailed out of jail by Wendy (how short on friends is Gemma that she relies on Wendy to pick her up from jail?). When Gemma wasn’t stirring up trouble between Tara and Wendy, it was between Tara and Carla....

South Park Rehash Review

Lately, the noises that accompany gameplay are taking away from the solitude that gaming once stood for. Console wars dirtied our collective conscience with desires of betrayal–I too once switched from PlayStation to Xbox–but even the talk of switching consoles that troubled us during the great Xbox 360 vs. PS3 debate, and more recently the Xbox One vs. PS4 slugfest, seems ancient. Gaming has changed. It’s for the masses now....

Star Wars Breaking Down The Musical Themes Of The Last Jedi

As a franchise Star Wars is inseparable from John Williams’ dazzling musical tapestry. Many credit the veteran composer with re-igniting the Golden Age orchestral film score with the Oscar-winning A New Hope back in 1977. Forty years later he’s still capable of sustaining the same levels of excitement with his scores for the new Star Wars trilogy. The Main Title Theme Arguably the most famous piece of brass-led music in soundtrack history, this is one of the key connective pieces of musical tissue between the Original, Prequel, and Sequel Trilogies....

Star Wars Rebels Fighter Flight Review

Hera orders Ezra and Zeb to go grocery shopping in order get them out of the ship, while Sabine redecorates the boys’ room. Hera also asks them to buy a meiloorun, a fruit that doesn’t grow on the planet Lothal. The beginning of the episode establishes the layout of the ship and the relationships within it, moving smoothly from one character to another. In contrast, Lothal is beautifully colorful, and even the market streets are quiet....

Star Wars Rebels Breaking Ranks Review

Ezra himself continues to be no more than the plucky protagonist he always appeared to be, while more interesting are the new characters he meets at the academy. After Jai Kell’s introduction as Ezra’s friend I thought that he would be more important, but instead, fellow cadet Zare Leonis comes packaged with his own backstory that also introduces his sister, who may or may not be Force sensitive and may or may not be alive....
