Bannerman (Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss) is a rookie cop. Worse than that, she’s also a girl, which means she gets twice the ribbing and half the respect that a male cop would get. When you add in the fact that she’s petite, blonde, and a bit of a horror nut, well, it’s no wonder her fellow cops Steinwitz (Stephen Lee of Dark Angel and about a billion guest shots on various shows) and Mattingly (The Wire’s Pablo Schreiber) do nothing but mess with her all the time....

3.9 Minotaur & 3.10 The Diviner I kind of gave up on Fear The Walking Dead last season. I checked in for the first couple of episodes, then I went on a vacation and then took a little bit of time away from the show, but I have to admit that coming back to it—and binge-watching the bulk of the third season—has given me a renewed appreciation for the show and what it’s trying to do....

It’s an accepted fact of modern media, I guess, that Fox TV is the dumbest network out there, even with the ongoing NBC Leno/Conan dance of disaster. Fox do things on occasion that entirely defy belief, like those in control of scheduling have no idea that people watch the shows or might be mystified by their utterly stupid choices. For a moment, I wondered if the station had screened the wrong episode and that I’d seen this one before....

This time? We wanted to chat about what to do if you lose your job. It’s a tricky – and sizeable – topic, and we’ll come to it again in the future. But for now, we’re focusing on where next once you get the news that you’re about to be, or have just become, unemployed. It can be devastating to lose your job, be it a freelance contract, a full time position, or just somewhere you were helping out for a few hours....

Gotham Season 3, Episode 8 This wasn’t my favorite episode of Gothamever, which is maybe unfair. It was perfectly competent in its exploration of Barnes’ final descent into madness as a result of his exposure to Alice Tetch’s blood. It was perfectly competent in its exploration of the complicated relationship that still exists between Lee and Jim. It was even perfectingly competent in the frustrating Ed Gets Vertigo-ed storyline. But it all just felt like things we’ve seen before on this show....

3.1. Better To Reign In Hell… One of the few constants from where things left off at the end of season two is that Bruce and Alfred are still investigating Wayne Enterprises. So let’s start there. The Wayne murders and the shadiness and corruption surrounding Bruce’s father’s company is Gotham’s overarching story, and since nobody knows how long the series will run for, it has to progress in slow steps....

5.21 & 5.22 The Beginning Of The End The show’s two-hour season five finale, however, went above and beyond what we’ve seen this season. Despite its extended length, the episode crammed an awful lot in, yet remained fast paced, keeping the dramatic tension high at all times. What really comes across is that Black Claw’s grip on society now seems unbreakable. The group’s plans to methodically infiltrate every aspect of government, police and other agencies is paying off, and there is an overwhelming sense that our heroes are fighting are engaged in an increasingly hopeless struggle....

Hap and Leonard: Season 1 Episode 3 For a show that’s set in the late ‘80s, and often flashes back 20 years from there, it’s no surprise how potent nostalgia can be for our hapless heroes. If I could offer Hap or Leonard any advice, it would be this: Time travel at your own risk. The idealism of youth often stands in stark contrast to the adults we become. As we see with Hap especially, sometimes love alone is not enough to keep the home fires burning....

Okay. I’m back. You have no way of knowing if I actually walked away, but trust me, your noble reviewer, when I tell you that’s what I did in order to return and provide you with a more subjective take on this week’s episode … which was a borderline atrocity. In the span of just one hour, we learn that Mara was playing Duke (no surprise there), and that Charlotte is … (drumroll if you please) – AUDREY’S MOM....

Given what a mess that season 2 of Heroes turned into, ‘Villains’ has much work on its plate to get the show back on the same rails that the first year ran. But for anyone ready to get into this I recommend you re-watch the season two finale, or you’ll be entirely confused about the convoluted plot developments you’ll experience in the first 10 minutes of the new season opener ‘Second Coming’....

Artistically, it bears a lot of responsibility too. The original series on which it is based remains beloved and oft quoted over two decades after it was made. Furthermore, to truly succeed, the show has sought to place itself among the greats of modern American television, The Sopranos, The Wire, and The West Wing. So, no pressure then. The good news is that it does do just that. Creatively speaking, the show is a success....

Their epic fight was muted by the nearby bonfire, or surely someone would have heard them and called the police. Annalise couldn’t reconcile what her marriage had become, so expelling Sam from the house was the next logical step in her mind. No amount of begging or pleading would soothe Annalise’s wrath. Sam was on his way out, and probably off to the local precinct if Annalise chose. Wes, Laurel ,and Connor inched their way in traffic en route to the office because Rebecca might have gotten in over her head....

The story of Hunters follows FBI agent Flynn Carroll, played by Nathan Phillips of The Bridge, whose wife is kidnapped by what he later finds out are alien terrorists, dubbed “Hunters.” His personal investigation into her disappearance causes him to cross paths with a secret agency known as the ETU, or Exo Terrorism Unit, the leader of which recruits Carroll into his field team. He discovers that the aliens are everywhere, appearing as humans but with different internal physiology....

Michael (Peter Ferdinando) is the corrupt, substance abusing leader of a corrupt, substance abusing task force in a corrupt, mostly substance abusing Met. After he sees a contact murdered in front of him by a pair of Albanian brothers called the Kabashis, (Orli Shuka and Gjevat Kelmendi) who have designs on the London drug trade, his chickens all come home to roost at once. The film definitely starts in style, with a striking, properly retro title card....

As one might expect from Network, ITV60 is very well presented, featuring a fine selection of programmes – from iconic landmark shows to forgotten gems. Despite what many might think, not all the material is already available. There are several previously unreleased episodes including, perhaps inevitably, Coronation Street and Crossroads. Both are represented by landmark editions: the aftermath of Martha Longhurst’s death in 1964 and the return of Meg Mortimer in 1983, respectively....

iZombie Season 2, Episode 10 iZombie was back tonight with its midseason premiere, and boy did it get meta. Much of the action revolved around a murder on the set of “Zombie High,” an in-universe TV series with a plot you can probably guess. The resulting jokes and references resulted in an enjoyable hour of television. Though the murder wasn’t particularly compelling, the investigation was the perfect excuse to make meta jokes....

iZombie Season 4, Episode 13 iZombie knows how to do season finales. It’s a perk we’ve come to expect from a show that is so good at its season-long arcs. iZombie has been slowly ratcheting up the tension over the course of Season 4 and, tonight, it reached its breaking point. Washington voted against any sort of plan involving human-zombie cooperation, cutting off brains to the city. Fillmore Graves, with both Liv and Levon in custody, scheduled their executions....

Adapted from a story by best-selling author Jo Nesbø, Jackpot is a Norwegian thriller from writer and director Magnus Martens, and it’s full of madness, idiocy, violence and extraordinary turns of fortune. And it’s a fortune that gets Oscar into all that trouble in the first place, we soon learn. Repeatedly cutting between the strip club aftermath outlined above and Oscar’s version of events, Jackpot isn’t unlike Fargo in its tone....

He’s the man behind Hereford Films, the production and financing company he runs with partner Damien Morley. If that name rings a bell, it might well be because Morley owns a modelling agency that takes care of most of the Page 3 girls, and the entrepreneur has even recently launched a bid to buy the Page 3 brand off The Sun himself. Although it’s common to see him around and about doing deals or publicity, often surrounded by glamourous women in the expensive bars and restaurants of London, the soft-spoken Sothcott is also a bit of a geek at heart, and has worked his way up the ladder from a nerdy film fan to a genuinely successful producer....

Watching Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell again in one burst just days after it finished airing weekly, that’s exactly the position I found myself in. Despite knowing exactly what was going to happen, each time a character took a fateful step forwards, I flinched and hoped that this time it would be different. This story has that rare power to engulf. Unlike a whodunit mystery, the pleasure of Strange & Norrell doesn’t hinge on a final revelation; it’s in every scene....
