Henry did what they’ve been hinting all season and, for at least the moment, gives a mea culpa by stabbing television Satan in the tummy. That’s certainly got to be worth some kind of brownie points for Sleepy Hollow fans? With so much going on, is it bad that I enjoyed last week’s cliffhanger more? Tonight’s episode, entitled “The Akeda,” which for our Hebrew readers is a dead giveaway for the final plot point of this week, was a solid finale by finally having Ichabod and Abbie seemingly thwart Moloch once and for all; yet I am left wondering if perhaps they should have failed....

4.2 Booster The episode is concerned mostly with the fallout from the events in last week’s episode. It’s pretty obvious who killed the Russians, but given that the police sat outside the reservation where Opie and Lyla’s wedding, the Sons have an alibi, and despite everyone knowing that they were involved, there is nothing that they can do. Judging by the two episodes that have been broadcast thus far, I would imagine that the wider narrative will involve a conflict between the Sons and Roosevelt (and by extension, Lincoln Potter)....

The character has gone through an evolution from a greedy little boy to slightly less greedy, but a more conniving little boy, and a tech savvy one at that. Through the lens of technology, Cartman has never wanted to concede the perception of himself as a master of any domain he desires. Whether it’s a game system or popularity contest on Twitter, he needs to feel like he’s in control....

Space Dandy is a show that is constantly preoccupied with the question of love. Dandy is always trying to talk up the alien lady du jour that he encounters, and the fact that Boobies itself is a fixture of this show rather than just a passing reference is indicative of the presence of love (yes, Dandy has love for Boobies) on it. So it only makes sense that eventually the show would try on the romantic love story hat and go for broke with it....

What we’re left with is a much more down-to-Earth venture that’s more focused on showing you these one-off characters, Elderly and Esme, who feel like they’re right out of a Miyazaki film. This episode feels most reminiscent of the first season’s lonely ramen master planet detour, but while that journey was just as much a focal piece for Dandy, this time the spotlight wants to be pointed elsewhere. There’s also an interesting theme of piling on and excess coursing through everything, whether it’s the way Elderly and Esme’s house is designed with architecture haphazardly stacked on top of architecture, the multi-tentacled multi-eyed squid creature that seems to keep going on and on, the eel-ish monsters from Dandy’s dream, or even the absurd “tug line” that assembles from Kaiyu natives to take down this fish (sorry, moonagi)....

Love is universal. It’s a constant. Everyone wants love, whether you like it or not. It’s why Dandy goes to Boobies (whether he wants to admit it or not). It’s why we throw countless hours away watching stupid sitcoms and romantic comedies. We all can empathize with the age-old story of finding your other half. Even the simple premise of Space Dandy itself is more or less a reflection of this idea, only the new, rare species that he’s searching for are aliens, not true love....

After the ridiculously different, bleak foray into existentialism that was last week’s episode, it seemed like it’d be harder for this show to outdo itself in terms of mouth-agape-what-is-going-on-ness, but then this episode begins with a metallic alien with a rainbow afro named Tom Travolta dancing on a giant golden disco ball with Dandy, and we’re again reminded that the ability of this show should never be doubted. Through all of this there are some wonderfully weird segments that are edited to the beat of funky disco tunes (or even the disco record that opens up the theme song this week), as everything takes more of a hand-drawn simplistic approach rather than the polished sheen that’s always present....

These types of shows have the advantage that you don’t have to spend half the first episode run explaining the idea, or maybe all the characters, because we’ve seen it or them before. The challenge as ever, is to take the show into new areas that aren’t the preserve of the original, and explore a different aspect. That’s the theory, but I’m not sure how well that was explained to producer Chris Fry who has made the Spooks-lite series, Spooks: Code 9....

That’s it. After ten years, perilous missions, near global catastrophe and of course many, many deaths, Spooks really is over. While I will mourn the passing of one of BBC’s best dramas, I have to admit, this was one of the most gripping and compelling finales to a series since Ashes To Ashes. Throughout this series, we have seen that Harry and the MI5 team have been played against a background of a mutually beneficial deal between Russia and Britain....

1.5 Dreamers Often Lie Whether it is the paradise that the Earth-bound Atrians are imagining is another question entirely, and Gloria’s decision to send her son there to protect him was a rash, but entirely understandable, move for her to make. Watching her young half-Atrian son being dragged away from his mother might have been the moment Star-Crossed finally came together for me and, with that little matter set up for a later date, we can look forward to seeing where exactly he’s been taken....

The Jedi are completely blind to Sidious’ machinations in this episode, partially because they want to keep Fives alive. Shaak Ti especially seems to have her hands tied. She has a very cool scene in pursuit of Fives, where medics gasp in awe as she leaps across a room, but it is brief. The trick Sidious uses to frame Fives is the same one he uses on the Jedi in the Revenge of the Sith novelization....

When it comes to trumpetting Carrie Fisher’s return as General Leia via archival footage, Lucasfilm absolutely made the right call. If rumors started circulating that J.J. Abrams was using old footage of Fisher, the whole thing could have seemed creepy, so it makes sense they needed to get ahead of those potential rumors up front. But revealing Luke and Lando and having Abrams call the movie “a conclusion to the Skywalker saga” signals a subtle, but important change in Lucasfilm’s communication strategy with the fans....

In a way, this episode feels as though it could take place much later in the season. The focus is not on Ezra learning to be part of the crew, but rather on Zeb’s reticence to sell disruptor blasters, and the arrival of C-3PO and R2-D2 accompanying an Imperial official. The droids’ behavior is so spot-on to the movies that there isn’t much to add about them, and R2’s arguments with Chopper are entertaining in a slapstick sort of way....

Just as my outpost is struggling to survive against the undead hordes, I remember a police chief who used to live nearby. As night falls, I decide to head to his abandoned home on foot. I see a horde of a half-dozen zombies in the distance but stay on the main road to avoid them. My first stop on the chief’s property is a tool shed that I search for supplies....

After watching Sherlock I was wondering – and I appreciate that this might sound like an odd question – do you find that you are consciously writing for widescreen viewing now?Probably since I got involved in any capacity in Doctor Who, which has the power of a big picture. And I tend to plot Doctor Who in terms of big pictures, so there’s that. And we can do big pictures really, really well now on television....

As the title suggests, #Thinman was full of Internet pop culture references, including when Harry complains that nobody cares what the Winchesters think, because they don’t even have a Twitter account. Facebook, Dr.Phil, and even memes get a mention in this episode. Harry and Ed survive off the internet. Of course their lingo is rife with it. And it all played into the monster being an Internet meme as well....

Later, a familiar face shows up, the Reaper Tessa, whom Dean met several times before. She insists that Castiel is the one who picks the angels (and her) to destroy themselves in order to put a dent in Metatron’s army. Cas makes a Lord of the Rings reference, then remarks to a surprised Sam how he’s pop culture savvy now. I wonder if this knowledge will ever prove more than to make Cas witty....

Supernatural Season 11 Episode 23 The last few episodes rocketed into the craziest concept for a Supernatural finale ever – the impending death of God and ultimate destruction of the universe. Jeez, and here I thought they’d never be able to top the apocalypse for huge stakes. I know when to admit I’m wrong. The scene in Waverly Hills asylum shows just how far Sam and Dean have come, as they dispatch ghosts as mere pests....

Supernatural Season 13 Episode 4 Things are getting to a boiling point between the brothers and Jack, so it was about time for a little self-help. Meanwhile, Cass find himself in a weird plane of nothing — but he’s not exactly alone. This also plays into the good vs. evil debate about Jack. If we can find shifters and werewolves and vamps that are good, why not — well I guess Jack isn’t a normal monster now is he?...

9.14 Captives A recent addition to the Supernatural writing team, Berens is responsible for the latest episode, Captives, and he’s more than outdone himself, combining excellent characterisation with both humour and pathos (the three perfect ingredients). Seriously, just about everything about this episode makes me really happy. Where do I even start? The episode begins with a lengthy and heart-wrenching flashback to everything unfortunate and miserable that has happened in the past few seasons (thanks, Supernatural), after which we zoom in on Dean, listening to music alone in his bedroom....
