Chuck Season 4 Episode 6 Review Chuck Versus The Aisle Of Terror

It might seem churlish of me, but I wanted more out of this Chuck than I really felt I got. Given that they had the a raft of sure-fire elements on hand, namely a Halloween theme, a horror movie star (Robert Englund), and they finally rolled out Linda Hamilton from behind the scenery, it should have been great. But something was missing from Chuck Versus The Aisle Of Terror, like a birthday cake delivered to the celebration table without anyone noticing the candles aren’t on it....

Chuck Season 5 Episode 7 Review Chuck Versus The Santa Suit

5.7 Chuck Versus The Santa Suit Chuck Versus The Santa Suit didn’t make me laugh once, not even a small internal chuckle that might easily be confused with indigestion. This was mostly because the writers forgot to but any gags in here, instead choosing to fill the time with some exceptionally poor dialogue and a half-arsed plot, where Daniel Shaw comes back to get his revenge on Chuck. Which he does entirely in studio sets they’ve already paid for, and with some moustache twirling that seemed to be borrowed from Whacky Races....

Colony Episode 1 Review Pilot

The very first moments we spend with Colony are with a family at home, witnessing their mundane, strangely uncomfortable morning together. Sure, everything looks fine, but underneath this forced normalcy is a deep emotional tension that bleeds out of every action and movement each family member makes. They’re recovering from a major shock, one that nobody wants to acknowledge, and it pervades throughout their entire Southern Californian household. The thing is, she knows he’s lying....

Community Season 6 Episode 12 Review Wedding Videography

6.12 Wedding Videography Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today for a sitcom wedding. But one week after another paintball episode, Community gives us Wedding Videography, an episode that is way closer to Game Of Thrones than Friends. In short, the kind of episode so ballsy and leftfield, you could only make it on the internet. In the same style as the previous Documentary Filmmaking episodes of seasons two, three and four, Abed is strictly behind the camera this week....

Constantine A Feast Of Friends Review

Seriously, I hope you didn’t watch this one while eating dinner, that would have been a waste of a perfectly good chicken pot pie, because this episode was as sick as they come. Between the swarms of filth beetles, bug eating, eye removal, raw meat devouring, fevered cannibalism, and almost constant bloodletting, this episode was like a gore hound’s wet dream. If you didn’t gag at least once, you probably should take a long, hard look at your life....

Cowboys Aliens Review

The man in the desert is Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig), and the town he ends up in is Absolution, in the New Mexico territory. Unfortunately for Jake, Absolution is a town in the pocket of Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It just so happens that Lonergan stole a bag full of gold from Dolarhyde and that Lonergan is a wanted man. However, before Sheriff John Taggart (Keith Carradine) can hand Lonergan over to federal marshals, a squadron of unidentified flying vehicles start scooping up townsfolk and dropping explosives on everything....

Creepy As Hell Fictional Game Shows

Everyone loves a good game show. Game shows are a light hearted staple of our TV schedules. We can rely on them to be entertaining without demanding too much in return. They are the TV equivalent of a warm bath or a nice pair of slippers. And what’s more, the whole family can enjoy them. 92 year old grandma visiting? Best leave Game Of Thrones and opt for some Wheel of Fortune instead....

Cult Of Chucky Review

Despite the ludicrous central conceit – serial killer Charles Lee Ray has used a voodoo ritual to transfer his soul into a mass-marketed child’s doll; slashing ensues – Chucky hasn’t ever been to space. Y’know? We’ve never had a Chucky In The Hood. There’s no Chucky Vs Annabelle in the works (that I’m aware of). The killer doll may be utterly demented, but even during his weirder adventures he’s always stuck to doing what he loves best: terrorising unfortunate people who have unwittingly crossed his path....

Dexter Every Silver Lining Review

Charlotte Rampling’s introduction into this show as Dr. Evelyn Vogel almost has me convinced that the show could reach the peaks of its latter days. Her mere appearance in this show has twisted so much of the well-worn character mythology that we have grown attached to after seven seasons. The Code of Harry and Dexter’s upbringing are all story elements that have been explored inside and out, from many different angles....

Dexter Remember The Monsters Review

Of all the possible endings, the writers created one of the most boring ones imaginable. Having to watch this show after Breaking Bad only amplifies its problems. To see how Breaking Bad actually devises a plan of where the story is going and how it spends its final moments utilizing every minute only further proves how Dexter sat around doing the opposite. They squandered an opportunity to create a memorable ending of a show that many people followed feverishly for quite some time, if you truly loved this show back in the Trinity Killer days, you should have been offended tonight....

Dexter Season 6 Episode 7 Review Nebraska

6.7 Nebraska That said, the appearance of dead Brother Brian as a dark mentor put a rather different twist on things, and for the most part this was another remarkably watchable slice of sociopathic soap. Much of this I’m going to hang on Christian Camargo who plays Brian, who provided some alternative motivation to the unscheduled road trip Dexter and he take. Dexter really is like a moth drawn to a flame on occasion, and the reappearance of the Trinity killer is the sort of impossibility he just can’t resist....

Doctor Who Planet Of The Dead Review

And got pretty much what I expected. This was effectively the last standalone David Tennant episode of Doctor Who before he embarks on the specials that will bring his tenure in the Tardis to an end, and it was by turns ambitious and predictable. Still quite entertaining, though. I was, though, and I really liked the idea of a group of people stranded in the desert under attack from a swarm of strange attackers....

Eddie Izzard Marathon Man Review

In the first of three portions he starts his running career in London with the objective to run to an old family home, with bitter memories, in Wales. The terrifying reality is that Eddie has committed to run more than a marathon’s distance six days out of seven, a horrific total of 43 in just 51 days. He attempts this with just a few weeks’ training and no history of running!...

Edinburgh International Film Festival 2008 Wall E And Harryhausen

The big one, at least for Den Of Geek, took place this morning – Wall-E, the new film from Pixar Studios and directed by Finding Nemo‘s Andrew Stanton. The film follows a robot, surprisingly called Wall-E, who has been left behind on Earth to clean up the mess left by rampant consumerism and disregard for the environment. It’s been seven hundred years since humans left the planet for the “final fun-tier” of outer space, and aside from a little cockroach friend, Wall-E is feeling lonely....

Emerald City Season 1 Episode 6 Review Beautiful Wickedness

Emerald City Season 1 Episode 6 Much of Emerald Cityso far has been compared to Game of Thrones(or, more accurately, as a wannabe Game of Thrones), but the flashbacks in tonight’s episode were all Lost. “Beautiful Wickedness” gave us a decades-old backstory about how this current sociopolitical situation in Oz came to be and it has everything to do with Frank. How did Frank know this was going to happen? He just winged it, I guess....

Extraterrestrial Review

To be sure, Extraterrestrial is an achievement in a technical sense, proving that relying on mostly in-camera effects and practical scares has more jumps per capita than a CGI invasion quadruple its budgetary size. So, when those bright lights beam down on these haplessly dim protagonists with a shade of crimson, and the ominous horns screech across the sound mix like the herald of an apocalypse, there is something approximating genuine creep-out suspense in this intergalactic slasher....

Falling Skies Season 4 Episode 1 Review Ghost In The Machine

4.1 Ghost In The Machine Fortunately, there are a lot of Masons, because the Second Mass—after a pretty impressive cold opening that effectively captures the chaos of battle with the superior alien forces—are all over the place. Faster Review

Trading on his good will and renown with kids, he eased into a lucrative career as a Disney movie star. However, he didn’t abandon his action movie roots, and now The Rock is back and starring in Faster, which sells itself as a classic 70s-style revenge flick that wouldn’t look out of place in the canon of Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson. Dwayne Johnson plays Driver. None of the characters in Faster have names, they’re simply archetypes....

Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 14 Review El Matadero

3.14 El Matadero In the meantime, after headlining last week’s episode, it was a bit disappointing to see Alicia relegated to the sidelines. This doesn’t impede her from killing a zombie girl in a call pit; nor does it stop Alicia from crossing paths with a mysterious survivor (played by Edwina Findley). We discover in short turn that Findley’s salty, pickaxe-wielding stranger has seen her share of action. Through her we learn a bit more about post-apocalyptic capitalism (gold fillings and severed fingers are important commodities)....

Friday The 13Th Sequel Is Dead

After the relative commercial success of the recent remake of Friday The 13th, it was widely expected that a follow up by the name of – wait for it – Friday The 13th Part 2 was on the way. The film’s producer had originally said that he was looking to get the film before the cameras this year, and it was also planned to shoot the film in 3D. The plan had been for an August release, but the brakes were put on the production of the film, and now, according to a Twitter update from Fuller, this is one sequel that’s dead in the water....
