Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 14 Review Double Shot Of Baileys

Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 14 “I’ve got to get right. I’ve got to get my mind right…” It’s an important skill for someone to be able to see clearly enough to understand the truth about themselves. These characters do a lot of incredible things every episode, but it’s just as crucial for them to know when they’ve had enough and what their limits are, whether that’s with liquor or inappropriate, reckless behavior that could lead to something worse....

Lodge 49 Review Spoiler Free

AMC is home to one of the most uniquely American shows on television. For three seasons (and soon to be four), Better Call Saul has been a modern Western filed with hustlers, conmen, assassins, crime bosses, and ordinary dudes who need to manufacture meth to cover their medical bills – basically everything that makes America “great.” All these misfits and malcontents live in an expansive desert dotted with strip malls, car washes and air conditioning....

Lost Girl S Anna Silk Will Return To Tv On Cbs S Blood Treasure

Blood & Treasure depicts a globetrotting adventure that will showcase the tension-teeming chemistry between antiquities expert Danny McNamara, played by Matt Barr (Valor, Sleepy Hollow), and enigmatically elusive art thief Lexi, played by Sofia Pernas (The Brave, Jane the Virgin). Their collective efforts will see them attempting to thwart a terrorist who’s funding his destructive activities from the theft of treasures. – The series was written and executive-produced by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, a duo who worked on shows such as Limitless, Charlie’s Angels, Human Target, Warehouse 13 and Jericho....

Lost Season 6 Episode 16 Review

It’s fair to say that anyone who was disappointed with last week’s episode of Lost will probably be more than happy with this one. Personally, I enjoyed the all-Jacob flashback, which draped its answers in implication and subtext, but if you’d rather just get things straight, well, you can’t beat the scene in this episode where everyone sits around a fire getting their questions answered. Part of me expects that some people would be happy for the entire finale to just be that....

Lucy Review

Lucy is Besson’s take on an X-Men-like superhero film, in which Scarlett Johansson is turned from ordinary 25-year-old to transcendental telekinetic warrior after being pressed into service as a drug mule. Having ingested an experimental substance called CPH4 (“It’s so new, we haven’t even come up with a street name for it yet,” quips one character), Lucy busts out of a stronghold belonging to gangster boss Jang (Choi Min-sik), and proceeds to lead the bad guys a merry dance across Asia and Europe, as both parties have their own reasons for retrieving the remaining stash of pharmaceuticals....

Mad Men Season 4 Episode 1 Public Relations Review

The incomparable Mad Men returns to the UK for a fourth series, once again tucked away on BBC4 at ten o’clock at night. It’s an odd treatment for a show that deserves to be seen by as wide an audience as possible, and just as the similarly brilliant The Wire was shoved in a graveyard slot on BBC2, the Auntie Beeb seem intent on keeping Mad Men one of UK television’s best kept secrets....

Mad Men Season 7 Episode 8 Review Severance

7.8 Severance A fur coat, red wine being spilled on a white carpet, a dress zipper being pulled down… these are inescapably evocative images for Mad Men fans, whom the show requires to have the long memory of a shrewish partner primed to dredge up years-old arguments at the slightest provocation. Take Severance’s fur coats. We know that a young Don Draper pushed his way through a rack of them to emerge into the Narnia of Madison Avenue....

Masters Of Sex Giants Review

We want what we can’t have. Hell, we want what we don’t even want a lot of the time, too. What’s significant here is that if we’re powerful; if we’re a giant, then we can usually get what we want. But there are a lot of different conceptions of what a giant is. Maybe it’s an unbeatable person in your life. Or an intimidating presence that can’t be equaled. Perhaps its an insurmountable monolith; a symbol of judgment and control....

Matt S Confused Reviews Disturbia

When provoked into punching an evil teacher in the face Kale is placed under house arrest for the entire summer. This is particularly frustrating to Kale for many reasons. His electronic tag costs his mother money (it turns out that despite the massive house loaded with all the latest technologies, they’re actually struggling for cash). It also denies Kale the opportunity to show his sexy new neighbour a good time in his first car, an old banger (they’re poor, remember) that seems to be given too much screen time early on to be truly incidental....

Mechanic Resurrection Review

British action icon and Den Of Geek favourite Jason Statham has appeared in more than his fair share of clever, inventive action scenes, from the expertly-choreographed, oiled-up brawls of The Transporter to the completely bonkers shoot-outs of Crank. On the face of it, Mechanic: Resurrection gives Statham another chance to do what he does best: bust heads, discharge firearms and look cool and sinewy while he does so. And yes, there are some splashes of creativity that an action film needs to keep things interesting: a high-wire sequence involving a swimming pool – which we aren’t spoiling, since it’s even on the poster – is a particular highlight....

Metalocalypse The Doomsday Requiem Review

For the past four seasons, Metalocalypse has told the misadventures of Dethklok, a death metal band made up of five idiots of varying degree who have more money than they know what to do with, are surrounded by death and destruction and are unknowingly part of a vast conspiracy linked to an apocalyptic prophecy. For the most part, the more serious conspiracy plot thread has found itself in the background to the band’s usual buffoonery, usually being spotlighted in the season finales, but the fourth season focused more on the more dramatic aspects than any of the others....

Misfits Episode 1 Review

Nathan’s the self-appointed ringleader of a group of ‘yoofs’ doing community service together – painting benches, scrubbing graffiti, the works – when they get caught up in a massive hail and lightning storm that ends up charging them with all sorts of absurd superpowers, apart from Nathan who hasn’t established his yet. The moment of impact was fantastic, quite video gamey in style, with the misfits suddenly being plunged into darkness and suspended in the air while lightning flickered around them....

Misfits Series 4 Episode 1 Spoiler Free Review

Most people are also aware that the show is welcoming three new cast members to fill the gap, with Jess (Karla Crome) and Finn (Nathan McMullen) joining Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) and Rudy (Joseph Gilgun) on community service for series four, before the introduction of new character Alex (Matt Stokoe). Based solely on this episode, it’s incredibly hard to judge how well they’ll fit into the regular groove of the show, as this opener does its very best to split perspective fairly equally....

Misfits Series 4 Episode 7 Review

After last week’s strong outing, it seems Misfits has been restored to default settings for episode seven, even if none of the elements of this episode make much sense when thrown together. There’s karaoke, there’s a weird sex scene, there’s a sequence where Rudy gets to be naked, there’s a slightly mysterious new member of the gang, and there’s a mystical pregnancy. All of these things are part of the show’s DNA, but apparently make a disappointing hour when not accompanied by a compelling story that ties them together....

Moonlight 1 01 Review

Y’see, Moonlight’s quite good; it certainly has more than a little potential to be an engaging series. Its central stars; the Holly-rugged, yet vulnerable (of course) Alex O’Loughlin and the (frankly) scrum-diddly-umptious (of course) Sophia Myles (last seen as Doctor Who’s Girl In The Fireplace and gracing the arm of David Tennant in the so-called ‘real world’) bring sufficient depth to their roles and a good – necessarily awkward – chemistry....

Once Upon A Time Fall Review

Don’t get me wrong; I am staunchly in favor of building suspense. To that end, I’ve dug being vaguely worried about the Snow Queen’s evil spell since she and it were first introduced. But every episode since where the curse has not landed has felt like filler. When you present your viewer with such a potentially catastrophic storm, and then you give us a two-hour episode, we expect the devastation to strike....

Peep Show Series 6 Episode 1 Review

That Mitchell And Webb Look and the significantly better That Mitchell And Webb Sound are fun while they last, but it’s Peep Show with which the pair will rightly be most associated. Now at series six the first episode aired on Friday night with the typical air of confidence and strong writing you’d expect six years down the line. Leaving Mark and Jeremy out of a job (Mark a long-time JLB staffer, Jeremy a three and a half hour recruit) it was down to Mark in his new role as manager to rally the troops and stage a coup....

Percy Jackson Sea Of Monsters Review

Yes and no, as whatever the movie gains from the distance between it and the Harry Potter movies, the abundant parallels take away again. A boy hero and his co-ed companions (the guy comic relief, the girl a smarty-pants) go after a magical object – the Golden Fleece – which is their only hope for the survival of their communal home. It’s hard not to see Harry, Ron and Hermione doing the same thing to much more entertaining and dramatic effect, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Percy doesn’t have enough of its own merit to stand alone....

Phoo Action Review

Ripped straight from the pages of Get The Freebles (which ran in The Face magazine) the show stars Jaime (daughter of Ray) Winstone as insane teenage anarchist Whitey Action, the wearer of vivid hairstyles and short shorts, and Eddie Shin as Terry Phoo, a Buddhist kung-fu cop who has borrowed the moves and wardrobe of Bruce Lee. Plus, (and here is the coolest thing) Carl Weathers as Whitey Action’s tough-as-nails cop dad Ben Benson!...

Poldark Series 3 Episode 4 Review

Oh, do piss off, George Warleggan. Pack up your little wig, your grubby social aspirations and your spiteful contempt and just do one. The eighteenth century is perfectly capable of culling the poor all on its own thank you very much. It doesn’t need your help. Nevertheless, help it George does. The cost of his imagined humiliation this week was the financial ruin of seventy-five mining families. To spite Ross Poldark, who’d spent the week setting up a pop-up budget supermarket and giving no thought whatsoever to Trenwith’s odious master, George closed down Wheal Leisure....
