6.9 Clap Your Hands If You Believe The first thing to mention about this episode, then, is the opening credits. It is an absolutely great homage to The X Files, one that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to many a geek’s face. Very well done to all involved. Obviously, this isn’t the most serious of episodes of the show, though, and quite welcome it is to. It’s nice to take a break from the intensity that has built this season and, with the added bonus of The X Files influence, this is a very fun episode that just stays the right side of comic relief. Furthermore, with Robert Picardo as a guest star you know you are going to get a great performance, and again he doesn’t disappoint. His annoyance at Sam towards the end of the episode is a very funny moment in a very funny episode. Now that the ‘real’ Sam has been revealed the interplay between Sam and Dean has a new edge to it, Sam saying the first thing that occurs to him and Dean’s exasperation of trying to cope with it produces some great dialogue between the brothers. You really feel for Dean having to be the responsible older sibling again. Either way, any doubt that this run wasn’t going to be as good as previous seasons seem to be fading fast, and Supernatural, once again, is shaping up to be a highlight of this geek’s week. Keep watching the skies…   Read our review of episode 8, All Dogs Go To Heaven, here.
